Trying to enjoy life as much as possible, while meeting all sorts of new people. I'd like to break out of my "social bubble".
Hi! My name's Omar, and I'm an engineer looking to see some of the world & meet all sorts of people along the way. I love to learn and I actually really enjoy my job, so I work some pretty strange hours- it's not uncommon for me to wake up at 4AM and start scribbling notes.
So I totally enjoy living in DC, but kind of want to move elsewhere some day- maybe see a bit of the world? Who knows. I feel like part of me travelling is just to explore potential new places to live. I'd also be glad to show you around if you ever decided to come by!
My personal philosophy is to make the most of my time, I'll only be here once, as far as I know!
My favorite quote:
“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” - Marcus Aurelius
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Not quite sure what this question means- I'll have to check out some other profiles and come back to it.
Well, I haven't really gone anywhere and couch surfed yet, so I unfortunately cannot answer this yet!
So as far as tastes go, I enjoy comedies. A lot. Checking out a comedy show in whatever city I'm in is certainly high on the list. I'm a massive house music junkie as well (Avicii, Swedish House, etc)- if there's a concert, or a bar that plays house music, I can guarantee you that I'll be down for that as well!
Other then that, I enjoy staying in shape, trying out new beers, talking about the mind, discussing various lifestyles, and learning everything I can about whatever happens to be interesting at the moment.
Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite movie is Inception, but I generally gravitate towards comedies.
As I mentioned above, I am a house music junkie. Alesso, Avicii, Skrillex, Dave Guetta, etc. I love music festivals.
I try and read all sorts of books, and I'm always looking out for suggestions. My current reads include Cloud Atlas, A User's Guide to the Brain, The Time Traveler's Wife, and The Intelligent Investor. Not sure if I have a favorite, but I loved Jurassic Park.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This is a tough one. I'd say that an amazing thing I've seen was someone burn open the top of a chip inside a computer, and start extracting it's contents w/ the assistance of a microscope. I know it's not Everest, but the level of skill required to do that is nuts!
Teach, Learn, Share
I believe that I can help teach someone basic programming skills, electronics design, and things up that alley. I'm a little hesitant about my teaching ability, but I'd be thrilled to give it a shot.
I'm not sure what I would like to learn more about specifically, but I'm open to suggestions!
