ABOUT ME

We are Order of Týr (http://orderoftyr.com), a group of musicians playing music influenced by Power Metal, Video Games, Trance, Hardcore Techno, Movie Scores, Classical Music, Drum Corps, and more. Our goal is to share our art with any and everyone!

I’m an extrovert trapped in an introvert’s body. I try to be as nice as possible to everyone I meet because you never know what the people you meet are going through. I love mental rigor for the sake of self improvement and for the improvement of society. I love to critically analyze everything...and I truly mean everything!

I would say that though I am fairly introverted, I'm friendly and quick to laugh and smile. I get along with almost everyone because I view life as an opportunity to experience as many new people, opinions, and places as possible. I enjoy coming across viewpoints that force me to question my own perspective and biases, but once I've analyzed all the facts, I can become fairly opinionated. I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs of any kind. Never have, never will, and I try to live as healthfully as possible through good food and fitness. If that's your thing too, we'll probably be fast friends.

PHILOSOPHY

My two most basic philosophical tenants are freedom and love. I take freedom as being defined in a way such that _everyone_ is free to do anything they want as long as the activity does not encroach upon others’ ability to do the same. I take love as defined as the joyous celebration of life and the living of it as well as having a compassionate view for those who are not able to have freedom or to experience love freely. These tenants have lead me to adopt several other philosophical beliefs with the chief among them being ethical veganism.

I can't say I've done a lot of couchsurfing, but I certainly have had my fair share of people surf my couch. I'm the kind of person who generally hates to impose on others, so I'll usually get a hotel if traveling somewhere new, but that doesn't mean I don't love to host and entertain people in my house!

There are dozens I'm forgetting. I also love poetry a great deal. Some of my favorite poets are Alfred Lord Tennyson, Molly Peacock, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Dante and Christina Rossetti, and William Blake.

I once performed on stage at a music festival in front of several hundred people. It was the most exhilarating experience I’ve ever had!

Working on it. I'm changing career paths completely after finishing a PhD in a field I realized I hated. I'm fairly certain that whatever comes of it will be amazing, just waiting on it to pan out. :-)
