ABOUT ME

My best friends would probably say I'm never around. I'm not. Personality wise, I suppose they would say that I live in my own world. I am hard working, reliable, honest, good natured and fun. I have a good sense of humour and know how to cut loose. They would probably say I'm a bit of a loner (but this is just cause I'm never around). I actually love meeting new people, getting to hear their stories and taking the time to learn from others. I should say I'm never around because of my work. And when I'm not working, I'm traveling. I love Bob Marley, Louis Armstrong and Michael Franti because all of them spread a message of unity and love. I believe we are all brothers and sisters and we must endeavor to make this world a better place. "When You're Smilin (The Whole World Smiles With You)" - great song from Louis Armstrong.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy experiencing and learning new things. I am open minded and have a big heart. I want to leave a positive impression through my actions and being. To be remembered with a smile. I love music, traveling, cooking (it's what I do for work and I love it). I live to share, to listen and to laugh. Laughter in all it's forms is the catalyst that propels me. Or simply, the genuine embrace of a smile. We are all brothers and sisters and should treat each other as such. Except for the hair pulling and wrestling. Although that might be fun from time to time too :D I want to explore and have fun. I know we don't have eternity.

Interests

I live to travel. To meet new people. To experience new things. To always be learning. A couple months ago I started learning the guitar and am also slowly grapling with Spanish lol. I realized recently while chilling in Pai, Thailand that I have missed out over the past decade due to fear. I decided that from now on I will conquer my fears by facing them. I see this as a new quest along my journey. I'm very excited by doing some things I never thought I would do. Like, diving, bungy jumping and going to some of the countries I've avoided due to certain dangers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'll never forget sitting in the back of a taxi in Cairo and catching my first glimpse of the top of Cheops. We were still a ways away, but I could see it's peak poking out above some trees. I was 19, half way around the world and about to visit one of the most amazing man made wonders of the world. The hair on the back of my neck stood up, my heart skipped a beat and I was beside myself with excitement. I'll never forget that day.

Crossing the Charles Bridge in Prague at 4 in the morning with not a soul around. I felt like I had truly stepped back in time. I was alone with history and felt a part of something well beyond myself. Pure magic.

Arriving in Tiberius, Israel only to find I had no money left. Panic was my first feeling. But quickly gathered myself, reminded by the philosophy that through positive thinking everything would work out. Sure enough I had a job, a place to sleep and a small advance within a few hours. That was an important and everlasting experience. To this day, I truly believe that by thinking positive and keeping your mind open things will work out for the best. A little drive and determination helps too :D

Teach, Learn, Share

I cook for a living and love my work. I am happy to cook for others and to teach them what I can. I am currently learning guitar and would love any lessons I can pick up along the way. I'm really interested in learning about everything. So whatever your skills/loves are I'm keen to listen and to get hands on.
