About Me

I am a 21 year old who has a mission of traveling the world. While it sounds too ambitious (even to me) I cannot think of anything that would make me happier. I dropped out of my college classes to work two jobs and save money for this express reason. My first substantial trip will be with my 18 year old sister and I am looking to save money in every way to be able to lengthen my stay over-seas.
Growing up in Fort Collins Colorado, a town at the base of the Rocky Mountains, I've been able to explore both city life and get out on my own adventures in the mountains. I absolutely love camping, hiking, swimming, backpacking and a miryiad of other outdoor activities. I also love kicking back and grabbing a drink at the bar, or attending concerts or visiting museums of all kinds. Part of these activities always include old and new friends or family as I'm social and enjoy the company.
On top of travel I am a huge wildlife enthusiast. I want to get a degree in Zoology/Animal Behavior and take some pre-veteranary courses so I can conduct in-field research on endangered species. Conservation and the environment are very important to me - as is travel so I am striving to accomplish both. I ultimately want to end up in South East Asia to study the wildlife there.
Overall I can and do get along with strangers and Im excited to meet locals of each area. Im willing to help out around the house for the generous hopsitality of each host and I hope to learn someyhing from each person I meet!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I briefly mentioned above - I want to expand the length of my travels and saving every penny helps. I will be taking advantage of Hostels and the Workaway program as well but I believe this is the most cost effective for my currently planned trip.
Along with the usual money-saving reason, the cultural experiences I gain through this will make me happier beyond expression - along with continuing to be awed by the generosity of people 8all over the world. Hopefully I will make new friends and connections everywhere I happen to stay!

Music, Movies, and Books

I couldnt tell you specifics right now - I read too many books and listen to too much music to ever narrow it down. The movie department is similar, but I havent seen any new ones because Ive been saving money.
I love fiction novels, most types of music, and horror movies are great (if done well).
I love suggestions and am constantly bothering my friends for them - so please help me expand my list of excellence in these fields and show me your favorites!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling to Nicaragua to volunteer and donate supplies to an orphanage, the first lending library in the area, and kids who want to go to school.
The trip cost the flight and discounted housing - spending about $700 for 8 days of giving and volunteering. 20 middle school students (us) raised over $8,000 to buy required uniforms, mattresses, medical care, and personal hygiene products; along with the 50lbs per checked bag per person of shoes and "christmas gifts" donated to families in the area.
Amazing? I feel so because of how much I feel I along with my peers helped the community of San Juan del Sur. The children and families we worked with every day were so thankful and kind which made me want to work harder for them, to help and support them in getting an education and being able to read books for fun.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Im young and willing to learn. I have little to share so far but as I travel to each place Im sure I will have experiences to share, places to take them, and culture to exchange.
I love cooking, I can share American cusine with hosts if that is of interest.
Mostly I can provide an open mind and a friendly face, with desire to learn about the world.
