Wants to Meet Up

Join Couchsurfing to see David, Paula’s full profile. It’s free!
To see as much of American history as possible; understanding & meeting new people; living a satisfying, full life.
David is more the quiet type, but with plenty to say when comfortable. He is open-minded, technical-minded (can make or cook anything!!), and dependable. I (Paula), am also open-minded, but moreso, I think. I can be talkative, but reserved at times, too. I am a big thinker and I many times exhaust myself. These are the times that I become more reserved and need the alone-time. David & I both enjoy hiking and just being outdoors. I am a dreamer, enjoy reading and writing and David is the type that needs to create and physically build something.
David: Do unto others... Paula: People are here to help one another through this life; do what you can, no matter how small, to help. It really is the little things that make matter.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
David and myself both enjoy history, but I think that I crave learning and dreaming about it more. We decided to become members because we would like to see more of the country, especially the Eastern states. In joining, I wanted to learn and see more of an area that we can't afford to visit a lot right now; In return, I hope that we can offer the same to someone/others who also dream about coming to our part of the country but may also be in our shoes (dreaming about, but not exactly "seeing the world" yet).
We are new to couch surfing, so no experiences yet. David and I visited Charleston, SC in 2006. We both found the history and beautiful old architecture amazing. This was David's first time to see the ocean and I feel confident in saying, "he loved it"!
David: Creating (new foods, anything he sees/wants to build; hiking/biking; hunting, 4X4. David enjoys fine beers and would like to learn the beer brewing process. Paula: Writing, reading, books; hiking/biking, horseback riding and care; exploring why I'm here and the principles surrounding it, astrology, ghost stories (I'm a big Ghost Hunter's fan!), and connecting on a deep level with both people and animals. I also really enjoy anything health related; I attended college intending to finish as a Paramedic or as a Surg Tech. I have Chronic Migraine disease that I struggle with on a daily basis, so I was only able at this point to finish with an EMT-B certificate. I hope to go back to college to finish my degree. Seeing the world and joining CS was one of my ways to denounce the headaches and attempt to make my life more full; I usually don't go down without a fight!!

Music, Movies, and Books
David: Almost anything with Patrick Swayze, and the usual "guy" movies with lots of action and fast cars!!! Paula: Cold Mountain, Somersby, The Red Violin, Seven Pounds, etc. David enjoys some country (although not usually the country I like!!) and some hard rock (again, not usually the hard rock I like!! LOL). I (Paula) like old and new rock (hard or soft), some newer country, and I love classical violin, cello, and some piano sonatas (adagio). I enjoy any book that covers the current topic that I'm interested in, but I do enjoy Stephen King or any good horror/ghost story. My favorite tv is: Dr. G, almost anything on The History Channel, RFD TV (the best place for "horse" tv!), The Travel Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, and many of the specialized movie channels.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
David: Being married and learning/growing in the myriad number of ways required (!!). Paula: Some of the most amazing things I've seen almost always have involved animals. I used to work at a local camp as a horse wrangler. The horses we used always amazed me. We had many grouchy, ill-tempered mares, but they always seemed to come through in the most compassionate ways when a scared child was involved. The was not only amazing to me, but hugely comforting.
Teach, Learn, Share
David: Has all the technical know-how - he can cook/prepare almost any food (and loves doing it!), he can make anything from just looking at a simple picture, and he has the ultimate patience in doing so. He can repair autos, trouble-shoot a machine at work, and come home and hang drapes!! Paula: I think I do best at teaching others one-on-one. I love to explore the woods, old history and nature. I enjoy working with and training animals and I have a good understanding of astrology and natural medicine. I hope that these are things that may be useful to someone.
