About Me

find my mission

I've been inspired by a friend who hosted two very nice Couchers to create a CS account, even though it doesn't seem like I have a very big chance of hosting anybody in the nearest future...Still, who knows? My biggest dream is to travel as much as I can afford, which at the moment is not at all, unfortunately. I blame Wojciech Cejrowski for implanting a very strong restlessness in me, in the sense that his books show the kind of life I wish I had the courage, willpower and resources to live out.

1. Always look on the bright side of life.
2. Enjoy the little things.
3. The world is a beautiful place, even though we sometimes fail to see this.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

First experience - meeting two very nice guys from Germany, whom my friends hosted. In 2013 I've been hosted in Vienna by Martin :)

I love reading, mostly fantasy, mystery and books of travel. Besides that, I enjoy anything that suits my mood at the moment, be it spending a weekend playing video games or going out with friends. I also enjoy a good manga/anime, and if you really try, you can find me on MAL ;)

Music, Movies & Books

Recently I took a liking to watching horror movies, after spending half my life avoiding them (if you like being afraid, watch Noroi x__x). However, I love thrillers and mystery the most (the Others, Primal fear, Shutter island, Inception). If I'm in the right mood, I appreciate a good drama or war movie (King's speech, Green mile, Black hawk down). Fantasy is a given, but those are mostly book adaptations, so they barely count ;) (LoTR, Stardust) A good comedy/action movie is a rarity, but they do happen, such as Snatch or Dogma.

Anime! That's a long subject once you get me started. Mononoke, FMA Brotherhood, Legend of Galactic Heroes, Honey and Clover and Wolf's Rain are some of my favourites.

Books - I'm a part of the Potter generation, and I'll admit that anytime. I have loved the Chronicles of Narnia since I was a kid, same with Lord of the Rings and other Tolkien's works like Silmarillion, Hobbit and Children of Hurin. I love the style of Terry Pratchett, and have read about half of the Discworld series so far. I also like a few of Stephen King's books, such as the Shining, Salem's Lot or the Dreamcatcher. Also, I've fallen in love with the gritty and bloody world of the Song of Ice and Fire by George Martin. Too bad all my favourite characters tend to die. A book that probably moved me more than any other one is the Little Prince, however cliché you may find it ;) Also another one - 'Tigana' by Guy Gavriel Kay.

Ahh, music. Well, I like to say I listen to songs not genres, and that also extends to not listening to whole albums. I don't know, a song has to really take a firm grip on my heart immediately for me to want to listen to it. My all-time favourite song, since the tender age of 9 when dad first introduced me to his casettes while driving, is, maybe not very originally, Stairway to Heaven by a band that needs no introduction. It has everything - a soothing, beautiful melody at the beginning, a tap-your-foot tempo in the middle and a powerful, masterful guitar solo at the end, and meaningful lyrics sung with soul. In fact, I'm going to listen to it right now xP

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Not sure if it's amazing, but it sure had been sitting on my bucketlist for a long time - I have bungee jumped, three times, and can't say how much of a freeing experience it is! I'd recommend to anyone, anyday. If you can afford it, jump!
I also consider Ireland to be a pretty amazing place, so I guess it counts, since I've seen it two times.
