Travel the world and make friends in as many different places as possible.
I grew up in Vermont, where I developed a love for the outdoors. I grew up skiing, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, playing golf, swimming, etc. Through high school and college I played soccer competitively, and I still love to play whenever I can. Music has also been a big passion of mine. I played in a band called Neglected Pocket Fuzz in high school, and a jazz ensemble at Skidmore College. While I was at Skidmore, I studied English and French with a concentration on Creative Writing in English. Since I graduated in 2008, I've been trying to work minimally, see different parts of the world, and have as much fun as possible. I spent a month working at an Eco-Tent Resort in the US Virgin Islands right after graduation, then I spent 3 months working at an outdoor gear shop in Burlington, VT. Now, I'm serving tables at a restaurant in Jackson, Wyoming and skiing every day I can in the Tetons.
I like to live life in the moment and have as much fun as possible. I never want to be at a stage in my life where I'm waiting for the future. Have fun, meet new people, PEACE.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to couch surfing. I haven't gotten the opportunity to host or surf yet, but my sister and I are going to Europe for 2 weeks soon, and I'd like to meet new people and share my experience with them. As far as hosting, I'm excited to have people from around the world visit my in Jackson, WY. I think this is a beautiful area with endless outdoor activities to occupy yourself. Whoever comes to visit would have an amazing experience.
Though I haven't had a CouchSurfing experience yet, I've done a lot of traveling, where I met people in lots of different countries. One particular experience that will be forever memorable was during my trip to Morocco:
We were in Marrakech and decided we wanted to see the countryside, so we got a cab to a small mountain town called Asni. When we got there, it was apparent that the town didn't get too many tourists, though they were excited by our arrival. When we were hiking in Asni, we ran into a goat herder on top of a bluff, and he invited us to his house for dinner. There, he had all of his friends from around town come drink tea with us, and afterwards, offered us a place to stay on his couch. This kind of warmth and hospitality to complete strangers touched me and made me want to join the CouchSurfing community to meet other people who have the same goals.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Have you ever seen the sun rise or set from the top of a mountain or the edge of the sea? It is the most beautiful, humbling experience in the world. Everything is so peaceful and expansive.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to teach people language and learn languages from others (as well as the different cultures we're from). I think being multi-lingual is very important in getting to understand other cultures around the world. It's something that Americans don't typically value as strongly as other countries, but I want to change that.
