One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Its not an amazing thing but yeah a life changing one i´d say. Once i was walking on the banks of the river Ganges and i saw a burning pyre for the first time. In Hindu religion we don´t bury our dead we cremate(burn) them. It made me realize that we all are mortals and one day we all have to leave this land. That made me less possessive, sharing and helping in nature. I started to live each day as if it were the last and am more contended than before.

Once went to a walk in the forests of Bitburg Erdorf, a little village on the Germany-Luxembourg border. My guide was the head of my host family, Mr Johannesse Jung, he was about 71 years old. We walked for three hours witnessing scenery as if straight out of a Robert Frost poem, the fallen leaves, the meandering path and the discontinuous rays of light coming trough the forest canopy. All this while I was being schooled on trees, signs and life by Mr Jung. In those 3 hours I felt as if I woke from a slumber, and realized one important lesson in life- there are far far better things ahead than the ones we have left behind...amen
