I'm operating on the basis that if I want to keep doing something I have to keep doing it.

ABOUT ME

I'm a Colorado-based emigre from the UK. So I have a British accent. I am a high-school principal so I like children as long as they are in situations where they are following my orders. This does not seem to apply with my own children who follow none of my orders or even my pleading. I'm pocket-sized so I have a small couch print. I give the impression of being outgoing but I'm quite shy and introverted on the inside.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm persuaded that it is a good idea to be kinder to others than seems necessary because everyone is carrying their own burden.

I like athletic activities such as ski mountaineering, running and the new national craze of getting injured at Crossfit. I recover through lying down with a book, binge watching TV series like The Wire and Homeland, and arguing about politics, religion and other subjects generally considered inappropriate for dinner table discussion. I like to go to the theater - especially in London. I like art exhibitions, gardens, mountains, oceans. All the usual suspects.

I like movies - who doesn't? I watch North By North West every few years. I got out of the habit of going to the movie theater when my children needed a baby sitter and so it cost $100. I have begun to rediscover the pleasure. I just finished "Stoner" by John Williams and I'm giving it to friends and relatives. Stoner, by the way, is the character's name not his lifestyle.

I have traveled to 50 or so countries and seen many amazing things - but none more so that my daughter's birth as she was my first child. My son's birth was quite exciting as we left it a little late to get to the hospital so he was born in the elevator.
