To be a positive and creative force in the world... read below.
I'm a young actor, writer and director (and waiter) of the just-getting-started sort. Until recently, I was floating, searching for home, but I've found it (for now) in Portland, OR. Even so, I'm spending the summer in Alaska and Africa (with layovers in Frankfurt, Madrid and Barcelona!). I miss Portland like hell, but love soaking up these other places. The circumstances of my life have led me to be comfortable with and interested in most types of people. Intellectual, but laid-back too; not above the mundane, the profane, or efforts made in vain. Oh, and I'm gay, if that matters.
UPDATE: Well, after completing a month-long West African Dance intensive workshop in The Gambia, I have decided not to return to the states, but rather to volunteer at a eco-sustainability learning center there, as well as a non-profit that sells crafts to support education for Gambian schoolchildren. I´ve opted to come the UK first, though, to earn some cash (and be near old friends) and make sure I can sustain my volunteerism. I plan to stay in the UK until at least mid-November.
So, WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR: friends, obviously; someone(s) willing to let a good-hearted American become a temporary flatmate; more friends; people interested in buying crafts to support Gambian schoolchildren ;)
I believe in doing no harm and doing everything possible to make sure everyTHING enjoys the greatest possible existence. This is the world, NOW. This is life, NOW. Make the most of it but leave it just as amazing for other beings to enjoy. I believe in saving the world, and in savoring the world. I live my life to enjoy and indulge in creation... meaning the natural world, and the expression of various humans' worlds. Art, of whatever kind, has EVERYTHING to teach us. I am here to create it and to consume it.
I believe that while we are all of one reality, we all live in our own offshoot realities, our own understandings of existence. But because we're still in a single reality, we cause ripples in each other's ponds, so why not try to understand each other as much as is possible for beings in different bodies to do so.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm a brand new member, but I'm otherwise accustomed to DIY traveling-- rideshares through Craigslist.com, camping, hosteling, starting a day without knowing where I'll end it. I'm looking forward to being a part of this world.
I lived on an air mattress on my sister's floor for 5 months while I gave film a try, then went to Alaska for 5 months, then two incredible weeks between San Francisco and Portland of not knowing where I'd spend a night, relying on the goodness of others and interdependence of friends (some brand new)... Then I crashed on a friend's couch in Portland for a planned two months, and wound up loving the town and staying on that couch (and paying rent) for 4 more months, until now, I find myself in Alaska again.
Theatre, Live Music, Visual Art, Language, Social Change/Awareness, Permaculture/Organic Farming, Hiking, Nature, Cultures of all sorts (not just based on color, language or borders, but other social glues).... basically, I'm interested in people's perspectives & personal realities, and how they got there.
Of course, I enjoy partying too... sometimes, getting to know people is easier once the inhibitions fall away.
