Join Couchsurfing to see Philip’s full profile. It’s free!
Being a criminal psychologist and security consultant my working times are quite irregular and often involve business travel. In between, I gladly offer the guest room in my apartment in the center of Berlin to friendly and responsible travelers, getting to know them a bit and infecting them with my enthusiasm about this exciting city.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe in world understanding and peaceful coexistence (in contrast to world politics, where other cultures are demonized and battered far too often) and I see couchsurfing as an opportunity of practical redistribution and of using resources in a more sustainable and mutually supportive way - for the benefit of all living creatures.
Feel free to join me in any of these activities, but do not feel obliged to.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music-wise I mostly enjoy R&B, Soul, Acoustic, Tango and Disco. As far as books are concerned I momentarily read (again): Brave New World Revisited (Aldous Huxley), Markings (Dag Hammarskjöld) and The Little Drummer Girl (John le Carré). Some movies I enjoyed watching are: Modern Times, Dr. Strangelove, Das Boot, Hotaru no Haka, Groundhog Day, Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, Jackie Brown, Mononoke-hime, The Big Lebowski, The Truman Show, Chicken Run, Wo hu cang long, Lilo & Stitch, Team America, Eastern Promises, Hellboy II and Gran Torino.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a whole summer sleeping under the stars on the rooftops in the East Village in Manhattan, which was great!
Teach, Learn, Share
While you share with me the personal space of my apartment, I am looking forward to spend a little time with you (like eating out, doing something active or hanging out) and getting to know you a bit.
For the times I am not able to guide you around personally, I can always give you some useful insider tips about the city - including places the usual tourist will never see, especially if you know your desires.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am the instructor of a martial arts training group in Berlin. So I can show my hosts some useful self defense tricks against serious attacks - as well as some more funny stuff, like throwing a chop stick.
Furthermore, I am willing to share all my already mentioned interests (see above) with you, as well as practicing my mother language German.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Brazil, Burundi, Ecuador, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Norway, Peru, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Viet Nam
