About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Figuring out what this retirement thing is all about.
ABOUT ME
I tend to be reserved at first. I enjoy showing friends around places that I know.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Note that even if my status is "Traveling" during the Summer months, I'm most likely still in Southeast Alaska. Drop me a line to find out what village I'm in. I may be able to host while I'm cruising.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Very little CS experience, but did 4 months in New Zealand WWOOF'ing and working with Habitat for Humanity. I find that looking up CS groups in the towns that you are visiting helps you meet people with like interests. I've hosted a total of 6 couch surfers on my boat.
Interests
Boating, fishing, hunting, woodworking, traveling, cooking and eating.

Music, Movies, and Books
Just finished "3 Cups of Tea" Most moving book that I've ever read. Also finished "The Boy that Harnessed the Wind"; very compelling. Read the Vietnam novel "Matterhorn"; wish I hadn't.
I've recently discovered the TV series Breaking Bad. I'm half way through season three (on DVD). I haven't seen a movie in many years.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got to hold a panda bear and be in an enclosure with 8 juvenile pandas. This was just before the big earthquake in China that wiped out the Wolong Panda Research and Breading Site. They act just like 2 year old kids.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to learn to bake artisan bread in a wood-fired brick oven.
