About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore, eat and drink and relax, meet some cool people, and see beautiful things...

ABOUT ME

I'm funny and easy going. I like the outdoors, but recently hurt my ankle, so this trip will be a bit light on hiking. I was up in Dresden, Germany this spring, filling in for a professor who took off at the last minute, and thought, while I'm here, I should do some traveling. I finished teaching last week, so now I'm wandering about Europe...

PHILOSOPHY

It only gets better when you get better.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new, so I haven't yet.I was traveling this summer, so I tried to find a couch a couple times, but never quite got one. In any case, I'm home now, and happy to host fellow travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never couch surfed before, but have a good friend who has done it for years, so here I am.

Interests

When traveling, just having new experiences, meeting new people from all over, enjoying the flavors and sounds of a place (and helping others do the same). I like to read, write, wander, explore and see things that make me think a bit, and have a nice chat over a couple good beers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently reading the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes; and Tyranny of the Moment: Fast and Slow Time in the Information Age. Love movies, listen to music all the time, mostly folk-rock stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I herded cows in the mountains in Norway for a week, living off of mushrooms and spaghetti.

Teach, Learn, Share

In Dresden, I was teaching quantum physics and relativity. It was the first time I taught this, and learned as much as I gave. I'm happy to share (no math required) that perspective on the world, which is sometimes hard to see...
