To get back on track! To spend time enjoying the things I know I enjoy and I'm certain I'll have a great time on the way!
I work recruiting and teaching international students. I am back to study again part-time looking more at the role of sport for development / inclusion. I used to travel a lot but have done much less recently but still know it is in my blood. I enjoy reading, cooking, travelling and socialising. I feel really happy with groups of people from around the world, and this is partly where I think sport (and a few other things) can really break down cultural barriers.
I run a judo club and want to set up another sports-social club to engage foreign communities.
I always like to be spontaneous and will most likely say 'yes' to any invite to do or try anything. in the same way I like meeting outgoing or interesting people who dont have a chip on both shoulders - one may be okay - , who are positive and friendly.
Still working on this one, too. I definitely dont judge people and, from spending lots of time with international students, am never surprised about being suprised about how talented some people are and how they are often so much more than their first impressions would reveal.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am free to accommodate now. I hope to travel relatively soon and discover the best couches going! I used to participte more when I lived in Taiwan and South Korea and used it when visiting Japan -
I hosted twice in Korea and used it once in Japan. Very good experiences overall.
Outdoors, travelling, socialising and sport. I am interested in many things and like meeting people who have a passion for anything - it often rubs off.
- outdoor activities
- track and field
Music, Movies, and Books
Not as much as I should at the moment - I like a lot though from all genres. I have been picking up and putting down an Ayn Rand (The FOuntain Head) which is really interesting - a great novel about objectivism, free will, being creative - it is in a totally different context to today, but has many comparisons. I always listen to different music stations depending on the mood, but varied taste.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Nothing has been that amazing compared to what other people do, but I'll share some stories another time. SOmething that felt amazing, but was probably more impicilic, was going out in an electric storm in Uganda with deafening lightening less that 100m away.
Teach, Learn, Share
Spend some time with a homeless person and I expect you'll realize how amazing so many people are.
