À propos de moi

I'm a professional music tutor - I teach adults and children - guitar, piano, singing and percussion. I also run participatory music workshops in singing, voice meditation and music improvisation / drumming. I lead singing with old folk in care homes, have worked on several youth camps, and have lead various community projects including a choir, making a film and photography. I create improvised music for dance and meditation and have a big vision for a theatre project.

I'm a singer/songwriter/composer/improviser/poet and photographer. Bit of a gardener and bung-it-in chef.
I'm sensitive, intuitive, creative, artistic type ... very deep on some days, silly and playful on others ...

Personal & spiritual growth & meditation are fundamental to my life, but I don't take it too seriously. I'm open-minded and try to be accepting, respectful and tolerant of other people views and beliefs.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I've spent the past few years studying for a Masters degree in Participatory & Community Arts, so it's now time to get out of England, see the world again and have some fun instead of staying in and writing essays ! Grrrrrr. Hoping to meet interesting, creative, heartful, soulful, spiritual people who care about the world and make their own unique contribution to making it better.

In my early years my family lived in Spain (3 years) and then Japan (12 years), so travel is in my blood

Centres d'intérêt

Arts (film, music, theatre, performance), singing jamming and making music, being anywhere in nature on a regular basis, camping, hiking, spiritual growth, meditation, yoga, tantra, massage, jogging, free form expressive dance. I've visited the Findhorn Foundation community in Scotland many times and lived there for 2 years (www.findhorn.org), so community living interests me a lot ... and I want more of it !

I've become a bit too good and being busy, so my goal is to develop the art of doing nothing ..... and see where that takes me !

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Like fantasy / science fiction movies and anything with a bit of a deep meaning and a message in it.
I'm open to all kinds of music, but prefer if it's played by human musicians rather than electronic ...
I do tend to read self help books but they can get pretty boring. Open to reading more and hearing about good books, films, anything inspiring and uplifting.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Slept out in the Tunisian Sahara desert for a week with the Bedouin.

Am I allowed 1 more !? I inspire people to sing - the most so far is about 350 people at a conference.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

Can teach: Music - guitar, piano, singing, songwriting, improvisation and random musical noodling, creativity and the creative process ... I quite like teaching English informally ...

Learn: would like to learn more about photography, jam with other musicians, writers and poets and possibly practise my French, Spanish, German and Japanese

Share: would like to share songs, music and poetry with other poets or writers, time in nature - by the sea or up a mountain - experiences of a heartful, connecting and inspiring kind ... being in community with kindred spirits.
(: FUN and PLAY :)

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

I'm house trained, clean and tidy (most of the time, and definitely in someone else's house !); I've lived in community before, so am happy to muck in and contribute to household chores, cooking, whatever...
No particular professional skills but I'm very practical so may be able to assist with basic maintenance stuff.
I'm very helpful really, so I might be good to have around ! ... and I will respect your space :)
