CURRENT MISSION

We are two Irish students (Poppy and Siobhan) and are working on Nantucket island for the Summer. Our mission is to see some more of America before we go back to college so we want to spend a few nights in Washington DC and New York at the end of August.

ABOUT ME

Well first of all this is a joint profile for Poppy (currently typing) and Siobhan. We are two 19 year old Irish students and are both heading into our second year at Trinity College, Dublin which we both love. We both come from rural areas of Ireland (Siobhan from Kenmare in Kerry and myself from Ennis in Clare) and met eachother in our college accommodation this year. As we have spent the summer working on Nantucket we have both developed itchy feet and have become a little bored with the small town atmosphere of the island. As a result we decided to save up our wages for a bit of a trip before we head back to Ireland! Siobhan was born in America and lived here until she was 5 (her mother is from Wellesley in Boston) and so has been back to visit a few times. However this is my first time in America and I feel like I would be a bit cheated if all I got to see was Hyannis port and Nantucket island. I've been dying to visit the States for years so I am really excited to see some real places!

Both of us are new to couch surfing so are a bit unsure of how things work but are willing to participate an way we can!

Interests

We are both studying political science so are interested in politics. We are also interested in history. Siobhan's father owns a restaurant and I have a massive interest in baking so we are both keen on our food! Most of our plans about what we are going to do on our trip have involved one of the above three things! We both love to travel and see new places too. I personally believe that travel is the best thing ou can spend your money on (I'm sure if Siobhan was not at work right now she would agree)

Music, Movies, and Books

Well Siobhan is a MAJOR movie buff... there's very few films she hasn't seen! She has a bit of a weak spot for sci fi action type films. I (Poppy) like any good film really... Musicals are a bit of a guilt pleasure! We both read a lot. As I (Poppy again)am studying history I find myself reading a lot of history books and less and less fiction. I have to admit as well that both of us have gone through the Harry Potter books 1-7 this summer... you have to love them. We are also both pretty obsessed with the West Wing... though Siobhan definitely more so!
