About Me

To travel around the world sharing child-like wonder, awe and joy of living with others.

One day I woke up, quit my job and sold everything. Then in December of 2010, I set out on an adventure to travel around the world. Although, I have yet to leave the Americas, I have had the privilege of coming to know its' people well. And as much as I have given, I have received so much more in return. I am truly grateful for such a meaningful experience. In the next year, I am hopeful that I will complete my travels of South America and move on to New Zealand and Australia.

I have spent as much time as I could in the Andes, Amazon and coast, especially amongst less contacted indigenous people learning about how we lived before becoming so industrialized. I have learned much about living more humbly, courageously, more naturally and most importantly gratefully and gracefully.

I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the more I give the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. - George Bernard Shaw and Richard Garcia

Embrace and make love with the fear.

To reconnect to my childlike nature, to fully know the wonder, awe and joy.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

How I participate? I show up.

Sometimes that means I participate by helping little old ladies dance across the street. If people ask me to join their journey, I willing offer a hand and shoulder. Sometimes it's just as simple as giving a "free hug" or making eye contact with a stranger and smiling.

It seems that the essence of CS is to help build an intentional community based on giving and receiving, a community in which we can come to trust one another to share the best of ourselves.

So for me it's an opportunity to connect beyond social-cultural and geopolitical boundaries by what makes us human, and more importantly spiritual beings.

I have been "couchsurfing" for a long time now. Friends, roommate's friends, friends of friends, even the occasional homeless person has spent the night (or a month) on my couch. And I have occasionally spent the night (or a few) on the couches of many generous and loving people well before CS.

So while I've had plenty of "couchsurfing" experience in my life, I am looking forward to my couch surfing experiences by connecting with others through this website.

Love, play, swinging and sliding on playgrounds, rock climbing, surfing, kitesurfing, languages, indigenous hand crafts, nature, animals, exploring, discovering and revering that which is sacred, journaling, yoga, meditation, spiritual expeditions, poetry slams, volunteering, hiking, biking, inspiring others to find their voice, their calling, trail running, kite flying, appreciating beauty, healing, live acoustic music, improv, vulnerability, spontaneity, making and refinishing furniture, building, dancing, self-awareness, learning about myself from my relationships with others, circus acts, genuine laughter and happiness, natural organic movement, organic gardening, cooking, composting, the wisdom literature, skydiving, martial arts, traveling, enlightenment, transcendence, rapture, accepting what is, surrendering, being present, here, now.

Music, Movies & Books

Movies: I love black and whites. And I have probably watched every worthwhile documentary out there.

Music: I prefer singer/songwriter, independent, indie type music. I especially love acoustic music.

Books: Choose your Own Adventure Number One - The Cave of Time, The Light in the Attic, or The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Which I loved since I was a kid. Although, I am looking for a "great book". Any suggestions? I'm looking for one that will make me laugh and cry, feel hope and fear, challenge and inspire me, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, infect my soul with love, play, beauty and peace. That would be a great book. Let me know if you find it.
