All about me in this little typing box? Seriously? Hardly easy, but in general this is a cat who does not struggle with life on earth. it is a pretty simple thing, rewarding beyond comprehension, precious, rare. every day i think about parts of this life, our earth, life and worlds elsewhere, eternally curious, the body, the creatures here, human behavior. Every day have some fun. High wags-per-minute! I live in a self-created paradise of things, people, the outside coming inside, music, family....surrounding myself with things that just make me feel good. No hi-honey-I'm-home, just friends and family that raise the bar, keeping the stimulus very high, fresh and never predictable.
We live and we die. What we do inbetween those auspicious events is life.... and life is to be lived. We process and question and search for purpose and complicate and define and desperately seek some connection with "higher" sources and look for miracles. For me, a miracle is looking out thru two gelatinous balls in my face and actually seeing, seeing colors, seeing dimension...how much more of a miracle must we invent when we have our own human body to oogle over. Remembering a smell from 30 years ago? How does THAT work?? Are you kidding---miraculous. I relish in life's simplicity, its nature -- i do not need to make anything up to make it grander, more meaningul, more important. And need no ingested unhealthy artificial enhancements to make this stuff of this world "better" -- just USE the 6 senses we own!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am a serious advocate of CS....have been from the beginning because it provides an elegant new model for people meeting, for travel without hotels, for gapping the cultures and growing ones circles of friends. I spread the word often!! Brilliant!
12 total solar eclipse trips and the last few in Indonesia, Russia/Siberia, Egypt, China and Australia have all been CSing. What a bonus to the eclipse experience these have been! And most hosts I have remained good friends. I host mostly foreigners but every experience without exception has been as good as it gets. The key is vetting carefully, matching interests or curiosities and being as interested in bringing something to their lives as they do to mine.
So easy to not just over-fill a box with these: astronomy, Apple computers, 3D printing, rocketry, sex, insects, noodling ideas, being curious, networking people, collecting experiences, music........
Music, Movies, and Books
I have 5800 hand-selected individual audio tracks on my iPad. but only 2 albums. Little regular rock or opera, lots of EVERYTHING else: world, blues, bluegrass, oldies, classical, classics, all electronic genres, dance, cowboy, celtic, country, torch, lounge, thrash metal, tejano, cuban, swing........it's all there!!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A great reward in my life has been a friendship with the extra-ordinary human Dr. Jane Goodall, who has stayed here many times and with whom I've done many projects. I've been on a polarbear airlift, seal hunt campaign, slept on an active volcano, inducted in the US Cycling Hall of Fame, produced a CD and TV shows, professional uncle to 17.......
What I Can Share with Hosts
