About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be an international citizen. To meet new people and live/ work all around the world!

ABOUT ME

I'm easy going, laid back and have matured a lot recently. I have lived on my own (in house shares) for ten years now, so that is to be expected. I am interested in new things (like learning Dutch and French) and a few old things (especially music).

PHILOSOPHY

Well whenever something goes wrong in your life, no matter how bad things get, it is how you think that makes the difference. If you are well within yourself and have a positive outlook to life, you will be fine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will be hosting once I have found a home that lets me do this in Amsterdam. After that, who knows. Most likely a mixture of surfing and hosting, maybe visit some of the friends I see in the next year.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My friend and I visited Amsterdam and stayed with a host as well as in a hostel (Flying Pig). We had a great time with our host - he showed us some of the local sites and bars. He was at work during the day, so we went site seeing on the scooter we rented. My home team - England - were also in town to play The Netherlands Football team, which was a big coincidence! We couldn't get tickets, so we watched the match ina coffeeshop and the atmosphere was just amazing. The score was 2-2 in case anyone was wondering!

Interests

I am a bit of a foodie, I follow sports - mostly football. Current affairs and philosophy are fun topics of conversation. I'm sometimes into reading other times i'm binge watching a TV show (or three). Music and of all kinds and International Cinema are regular interests also. I don't have any strong political or religious views but I like to keep up to date with what is happening in the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have read Plato/ Socrates, Hobbes and Rousseau as part of my degree, which I found quite interesting. Recently, anything I have been able to get my hands on, autobiographies, fiction and non-fiction novels. I have read a few Haruki Murakami books as well.

At the moment I am learning Dutch and French so I try to listen to the radio to help learn more. I like a lot of old music from the 70's 80's and 90's as well.

Shawshank Redemption, Gattaca, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,Star Wars Rouge One, Inglourious Basterds, Goodfellas, Terminator 2, the Dark Knight , No Country for Old Men and Jurassic Park are my popcorn movies. Sci-fi and old school action films are my go-to genres. I like everything from Superhero movies to Thrillers to Comedy to Heist genres and so many many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam which were breathtaking. We flew over on a small plane from Las Vegas. The scale is difficult to describe, but it's something I will never forget. I was also throwing up whilst listening to Bohemian Rhapsody during of the flight.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well I guess my skills are in English, Politics and Economics. English is my first language, although my spelling isn't great (thanks Microsoft Word!). My ideas about life, like religion and choosing a career aren't fully decided yet. I still need to learn chat about this with all you international people!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences and opinions! I've worked as a Barman/ Waiter so I like to think i'm good company and get on with all types of people. I talked all day at the Call Centre where I used to work as well, this has made me a good listener somehow. So i'm not shy, and make good conversation, about all kinds of things. I've been on my travels a fair bit as well, so can share some stories of my adventures.
