ABOUT ME

Hi! Well, I'm Rachael! I'm currently living in Glasgow, which is where I'm originally from as well. I work on commercial ships - which although gives me a lot of time away working also results in long periods off to travel :) My job has allowed me to see a lot of the world - but only in small pieces- and I would like to see a lot more! I really loved South America and South Africa - which I am hoping to revisit in 2015!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am more than happy to meet up with travellers in the Glasgow/Edinburgh area and show them around, or even take a journey up to the beautiful Highlands! Unfortunately I can't host as I do not have my own place yet - one day!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed once in Berlin - unfortunately I had to cut my journey in Germany short so only stayed with one host - but I had a fantastic time and it was better than I could have imagined. I look forward to doing a lot more in the future!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am into all different genres of music - mainly deep house but I do like a bit of variation! I love cinema - my favourite movies now are Gone Girl. Eat, Pray, Love, It's Complicated & Sex and the City (massive chick flick fan, hehe!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Running the Edinburgh marathon was probably one of the most amazing experiences of my life, I had never really committed to anything that much before. When I sailed into Cape Town I honestly felt like my breath was taken away - such beauty.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've always wanted to learn how to knit, surf and ski! Unfortunately I don't think there's a lot I can teach someone, maybe some nautical related things? Knot tying? Or ship related things if anyone's interested? Rubbish sorry!
