I am living a very cool life of travel and adventure on a frugal budget with my lovely husband Jim. We used to teach at university in New Zealand (amongst other jobs) but have recently retired to focus on experiencing life before we die.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Looking to get away from mainstream travel and have some adventures while meeting locals. We spend a lot of time camping and using Airbnb, but are keen to explore a way of travel that involves more human contact. We have often hosted stray travelers at our home, but can't be hosts at the moment because we are never home. When we get too old to be on the road we will pay all the hosting back!
We split our time between the US (where Jim is from) and New Zealand (my home country), with various other destinations as we can. We love the outdoors and spend a lot of time in the wilderness with the occasional dip into cities when we need an urban fix.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
What to choose? Maybe taking a job in Japan via the internet in the 1990s before it was normal.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A sense of humour, travel stories, and if they are really desperate discussion about late eighteenth early nineteenth century British women's poetry.
