About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover new things about myself and the world, and to encourage others in their journies

ABOUT ME

I am from Loveland, CO. I traveled a lot with my folks when I was a kid, now I'm ready to start having my own adventures as a grown-up.
I am a little shy, but I love meeting people, seeing communities built, and trying new things. I try to push out of my comfort zone.
I like to swing dance, hike, watch movies and TV, read, paint (I'm just an amateur!), bike, and eat fun things.

My boyfriend Micah will likely be traveling with me on most trips. We are both new to CS so we are sharing an account for now.
Micah has a BA in Biology from Cedarville University, from 2010. He works for the city of Boulder, CO as a wildlife technician.
He likes mountain biking, hiking, presumably hang gliding (he hasn't tried it yet...), petting dogs, reading (he's a little bookworm), nerding out on craft brews, and off-roading.
We go to church together in Longmont, CO and we're working help set up a young adult ministry.

Right now we are living in Port Alsworth, AK working for The Farm Lodge for the summer. There are no roads around, so it's only accessible by small aircraft. Micah fuels airplanes and mows the lawn, I clean cabins and wash dishes! We're just on the border of Lake Clark National Park and Preserve.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a Bible believing Christian. I am not here to condemn others, but to serve and love them like Christ loves me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I don't have a permanent residence and I am doing some traveling. I hope one day that I can host people in my home, but for now I'm looking to meet new people and make connections through my travels.

Interests

I am interested in social justice and conservation.
I worked for a Youth Conservation Corps for two years and it was an awesome experience! I worked on a chainsaw crew and camped out in the mountains all summer.

I like to watch movies, whether they are thought provoking or silly and relaxing.
I also like to read, but I have a pretty short attention span...

I love swing and ballroom dancing.

I like to go out to eat and try new foods. I don't have a lot of cooking experience, but I like to try unique vegetable dishes.

I love exploring and discovering new things: hiking, walking around town, going to new restaurants and shops, going to art and science museums...etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learning to operate a chainsaw and cut down trees was a very empowering experience for me. And I got to see how a team of diverse young adults from different backgrounds could learn from each other and encourage each other.

When I was a kid I stayed with my grandparents at the beach for a week. I woke up early every morning, sat in my beach chair, wrote letters, read "Little Women," and listened to the ocean.

Monte Verde (Costa Rica) was heaven on earth. Went zip-lining, rafting, sloth-viewing, and built some good arm muscles with my best friend.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't have a lot of special skills. I'm pretty good at washing dishes and cleaning bathrooms! I just graduated so I'm sure I could talk your ear off about some social issue or another.
Micah has a lot of knowledge of birds, plants, biology. He has some construction and woodworking experience.
