About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn and live.

ABOUT ME

I'm currently a graduate student at Rutgers University. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing about other ways of being in the world. It never ceases to amaze me how much there is to see in this world when I remember to open my eyes and take a look around or turn off the monologue in my mind and listen to what others have to say.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to be open to life as it comes, in whatever form it presents itself. See the good in the bad.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'll be a first-time surfer here pretty soon, but have friends who support the cause! My home does not yet offer a place for fellow surfers, but this could change in the future.

Interests

I'm studying mathematics but also have a passion for the arts, specifically painting. I enjoy getting out into nature (love birdwatching!) and also love going into the city.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't watch too many movies. For music I listen to Pig Radio or various jazz stations. Coltrane is a favorite. I also enjoy experimental and ambient music.

Lately I've been reading books on art and artists. The last book I ordered (and I expect to arrive next week!) is 'Francis Bacon: The Logic of Sensation' by Deleuze. Perhaps I will have read it by the time we meet and we can have a discussion about it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the earth being formed by an active volcano in Hawaii was probably the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Close second was kayaking through Bear Glacier in Alaska when I visited my brother (he's a helicopter pilot).

Teach, Learn, Share

Painting, drawing, and math. I also love to play the piano with people who don't know how to play music at all--finding order in chaos. I'm also an avid birdwatcher, so I'd be happy to take a walk with you through your neighborhood and teach you the names of some of the birds you life amongst!
