I live on an island off the coast of Maine. In between my working hours (which are many in the summer and few in the winter) I read (Adrienne Rich, Denise Levertov, William Carlos Williams ...) , write, swim in the quarries or ocean, walk. These years have been a slow reclamation of self from the bounds of western civilization. It's a work in progress- but as I proceed, I'm encouraged by the power of listening to my interior rhythm and how it correlates to my surroundings.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm encouraged by the model of couch surfing: people taking matters into their own hands and cultivating community outside of the monetary system.
