About Me

I currently have a great comfy couch available FOR 1 PERSON in a mini apartment within a shared apartment. Sheets and fan are included. It's a big air conditioned loft space, shared with me, but divided with a curtain.

Even though I have plenty of floor space, I don't EVER let people sleep on floors, sorry. My pets sleep on the floor and that's enough.

Minimum nights offered: 2 (I'm not a free hotel) - come and enjoy the Penh!

How to be a good guest

and learn about the difference between making a Couch Request and sending a Message.

I host a LOT of couch surfers. Mostly out-going, open-minded happy people that NOT only come here to check off the highlights in their Lonely Planet, but also want to emerge with "living in Phnom Penh".

I however am not a real local. I am not a Cambodian, don't speak fluently Khmer and am very appreciative of the expatriate bubble that exists in this city that I call my home for over 5 years now.

Every other few days there might be another couch surfer over.

If you wish to come along with others, please let me know their profile too. This website doesn't exist to take along total strangers too, right? This is way better than anybody writing me "I am bringing along my friend".

Requesting a couch within the coming days might not be that successful, but you can always try. Just don't request a couch more than a month from now as I don't like to keep agendas.

I am an online tour operator, writer, certified stress relief massage therapist, photographer, creative concept developer, event marketeer, marketing specialist and a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer.

Don't worry, I don't do that all at the same time ("you must be so busy!"), but I certainly have no 9-to-5 life either.

I own and manage the The Flicks Community Movie Houses in Phnom Penh ( These are the three venues where expatriates and tourists in town watch great quality movies on big screens with air conditioned awesomeness! I manage all technical logistics, marketing and scheduling, as they are fully run by volunteers. (My apartment is on the ground floor of The Flicks1).

I run a little tour company in Tanzania (yes, Africa): I wake up pretty much daily at 5am (!) to do my CrossFit workout and assist in classes ( Next to that I'm a certified massage therapist and treat clients at my home.

In late 2016 I hope so open and run my own CrossFit gym in Phnom Penh. It was a dream, but now I am getting ready with business plans, prospectus and financial investment rounds. Exiting stuff!

I like to have fun with people when possible. Visitors, expats, professionals, anybody. Talk, cook, eat, listen, learn and share life with others, is what keeps me going on!

If you have general questions about your future stay in Phnom Penh, please post them in the Phnom Penh Group on this website. There, more than one person might be able to help you out with anything.

CrossFit, enjoying movies, reading books, cooking (paleo), writing, drawing, stand-up comedy, pub life, radio, lying in hammocks, nudity, yoga, massages, trampolines, swimming in pools, rivers and oceans and sharing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In a time way before Youtube, Facebook or even Twitter, from 2001 to 2003, I was the first person ever to travel the world for free for two years, using the power of the internet and the hospitality of people online - for the first time.

Thanks to global media support and helpful sponsors I could travel to many other countries and stay with people who invited me over with my own website

From 2001 to 2003 I had travelled through 18 countries, personally met some 10,000 people on the road, slept in 500 different beds, ate some 1,500 meals and had some 600 showers.

So you can understand that I am still paying back with hosting couch surfers at my places, before in Amsterdam, nowadays in Phnom Penh.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I live BELOW The Flicks 1 movie house in Phnom Penh. It's a share apartment with 4 rooms and a private (!) living room, but shared kitchen and bathroom. Mostly all other rooms are taken by the volunteers that run the movie house locations in town.

So, I have six CATS. If you are allergic to cats or don't like them to explore you and your belongings totally, or simply claim your backpack, don't stay at my place, please.

* If you wish to come along with others, please let me know their profile too. This website doesn't exist to take along total strangers too, right? If your travel partner(s) don't have a profile, I prefer not to help them this way - sorry.

* I would be very pleased if your request is for the coming month over and not for any time over a month from now. I don't even know what I'll be doing myself or where I will be. Thanks!

IF YOU HAVE SCROLLED THIS ALL THE WAY TO HERE and you wish to request for a couch at my place (a Request, not a Message), please start your request with "Ramon, I love life too" (exactly).

This way I know you have actually read my profile and care about who you like to stay with.
