About Me

I host a lot of couchsurfers, but I am also selective. If you can't read my entire profile (because you ain't go no time) I can't host you either. If you DO read my entire profile, you will see WHY I request you to do so, before sending me a COUCH REQUEST (and not a message). Thanks.

(This is a great way to really filter out the ones that just want a free hotel for tonight)

Welcome to Cambodia! I love to host people from all over the world, it's great to make such special connection in this unique way!

I prefer to host only ONE person (seriously!), as I only have one couch available in a shared studio with AC. I have sheets available. Next to that I don't like to host guests for only one night, that's not fun for me either, makes it feel you just need a free hotel - and I love it if you wish to explore Phnom Penh more than one day. It's seriously worth it.

I am also a day guy, not a night owl. I am a CrossFit athlete and live a healthy life style. If you wish to sleep out until noon, get some ear plugs and stay at a hostel :-)

I host a LOT of couch surfers. Mostly out-going, open-minded happy people that NOT only come here to check off the highlights in their Lonely Planet, but also want to emerge with "living in Phnom Penh" for a few days, even longer.

I however am not a real local. I am not a Cambodian, don't speak fluently Khmer and am very appreciative of the expatriate bubble that exists in this city that I call my home for over 6 years now.

Every other few days there might be another couch surfer over.

Please don't request a couch more than a month from now as I don't like to keep agendas.

I am an online tour operator and I write.

I also own and manage the The Flicks Community Movie Theaters in Phnom Penh (www.theflicks.asia). These are the 2 venues where expatriates and tourists in town watch great quality movies on big screens with air conditioned awesomeness! I manage all technical logistics, marketing and scheduling, as they are fully run by volunteers. (My apartment is on the ground floor of The Flicks1).

I run a little tour company in Tanzania (yes, Africa): www.expeditionkilimanjaro.com.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to have fun with people when possible.

Visitors, expats, professionals, anybody. Talk, cook, eat, listen, learn and share life with others, is what keeps me going on!

enjoying a good movie, reading books, cooking, writing, drawing, stand-up comedy, radio, nudity, yoga, massages, trampolines, swimming in pools, rivers and oceans - and sharing.

No TV.
Occasional indulgence in a Netflix series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In a time way before Youtube, Facebook or even Twitter, from 2001 to 2003, I was the first person ever to travel the world for free for two years, using the power of the internet and the hospitality of people online - for the first time.

Thanks to global media support and helpful sponsors I could travel to many other countries and stay with people who invited me over with my own website www.letmestayforaday.com.

From 2001 to 2003 I had travelled through 18 countries, personally met some 10,000 people on the road, slept in 500 different beds, ate some 1,500 meals and had some 600 showers.

So you can understand that I am still paying back with hosting couch surfers at my places, before in Amsterdam, nowadays in Phnom Penh.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I live BELOW The Flicks 1 movie theater in Phnom Penh. It's an apartment with four rooms and one of them is a little comfy AC studio, and comes with a shared kitchen and bathroom. All other rooms are taken by the volunteers that run the movie house locations in town.

I have 6 CATS. If you are allergic to cats or don't like them to explore you and your belongings totally, or simply claim your backpack, don't stay at my place, please.

* I would be very pleased if your request is for the coming month over and not for any time over a month from now. I don't even know what I'll be doing myself or where I will be. Thanks!

* Okay, here we go: I am a nudist. This means I find it most comfortable to be in a state of undress in the comfort of my own house. All I ask is respect for this and others in the house (my volunteers or other couchsurfers) who wish to enjoy the same liberty. If this is an uncomfortable issue for you, that's okay, either let me know or go for another host in town.

IF YOU HAVE SCROLLED THIS ALL THE WAY TO HERE and you wish to request for a couch at my place (a Request, not a Message), please start your request with "Ramon, I love life too" (exactly).

This way I know you have actually read my profile and care about who you like to stay with.
