About Me

I am a laid back and open minded person with a soul longing to be more creative. My heart goes pidder patter for my beautiful wife Nikki of 4 years and our two dogs Vince and Nina. I enjoying cooking dinner for friends and making a dinner table look pretty by my second hand finds. Although I grew up in New England, I am actually not a fan of the winter. I long for the spring and summer... especially a day at the beach. Whether taking a walk or in the zone reading a book, out doors on a nice day is where you will find me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My wife Nikki and I heard about Couchsurfing through friends who had tried it when exploring Canada. We loved the idea. However we were both initially apprehensive as to how safe it really was. We heard all about their trip, and enjoyed looking through photos. Intrigued their Surfing experience was the favorite part, we asked for details. They spoke of how welcoming their host was. As well as his generosity in showing them places most tourist would normally not know about. It was very encouraging. We loved the idea of both Surfing and Hosting. With our hectic schedules, we have not had the opportunity to travel much.

Unfortunately my wife's Uncle was diagnosed with cancer this past year. With him living in Cape Canaveral and us living in Worcester, we have not been able to visit. Nikki sharing a birthday with her Uncle, has always had a special connection with him. So the news of his illness and prognoses was a hard one to digest.

He just came for a visit to Massachusetts for the holidays. It was so good to see him and hear stories of his past, even if for just a short time. With such a large family he had a lot of visits to make. Nikki felt she needed more time with him. So she put in a request for her two weeks vacation for as soon as possible. It was just approved yesterday!
We will be staying in a hotel for our visit. However, we would love to try surfing for a two to three days. We would really like to make some connections with new people and learn more about the area.

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh I am beyond eclectic when it comes to my choice in music. My growing vinyl collection is exciting! As for books, I enjoy fiction that is more realistic than not as well as biographies of comedians. Movies that are sweet and make me laugh are my favorite. I also really enjoy documentaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been sober for 7 years.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've enjoyed recently teaching my friend as well as my mother-inlaw how to knit. I also have a lot of life experience that makes people curious. I appreciate people asking questions as opposed to assuming. I feel happy when I feel sharing my experience breaks down others ignorance some.

I am intrigued by religions. So I've enjoyed watching PBS documentaries about the topic. I love having conversations with others about their beliefs organized or otherwise. I would love to learn more about meditation and yoga.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Again, I really enjoy conversation. The part of CouchSurfing that seems wonderful to me is having conversations with new people. Having a glimpse into someone else's life and experiences and seeing the world through their eyes.
