About Me

While in Montreal...to learn lots of French, while meeting lots of awesome people and having tons of adventures! In life in general...to give back to the world, and to live as openly, passionately, intensely, and lovingly as I can.

I'm 18, in university, studying Political Science. I love music- I play the piano, and I sing, and I recently changed my minor to music! I'm learning to play the guitar, and one day, I aspire to learn how to conduct. I love all kinds of music, and recently I've been really into jazz...I love travelling, adventures, seeing new places, and having random encounters and conversations with new people, as well as enjoying places I am and spending time with people I've already come to love! I like to write, especially in journals. I read lots of philosophy, English Lit, and random books that interest me. Giving back to the world/community I live in is really important to me, and so is reaching out to people. What else to say?I love living!

If we could see the greatness we are meant to achieve, we would rise up and never be the same.

"When each day is the same as the next, it is because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives each day that the sun rises." - Paulo Coelho

"These remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love."

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I'm relatively new to participating in CS. Right now I'm using it as a way to meet people in Montreal who can teach me awesome stuff about their great city, which I sadly only get to live in for two months! Once I'm back in BC, going to UVic, I would like to host people!

Music (creating and appreciating), reading, politics, philosophy, travelling, languages, running, martial arts, writing poetry, journals, prose, and drama, strong coffee, acting, improv, cliff jumping, swimming, baking, playing my piano, singing, hiking, adventures, creativity, long stimulating talks about things like religion/philosophy/the meaning of life, having fun, parties, staying up late, getting up early, crazy and interesting ideas...

Music, Movies & Books

I like reading books by Paulo Coelho, Ayn Rand, Margaret Atwood, Carol Shields, and Stuart MacLean, as well as anything about philosophy, current affairs, politics, etc...
I like and will listen to all kinds of music, but especially love jazz, classical, alternative, tejano, gosepl, and choral.
My taste in movies is somewhat random and obscure...some of my favourites are The Pianist, Rent, Waking Life, Copying Beethoven, Fiddler On The Roof, American Beauty, Pan's Labyrinth, City of God, and The Motorcycle Diares.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I once spent three days walking around the greater Comox area of BC, dressed in full bardian costume, because I was at a drama festival performing in my high school's production of Beowulf. With me was the rest of our cast of approx. 28 students, all dressed in bardian clothing, some speaking Middle English. Seeing the reactions, and getting to do that...was pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm currently trying to learn French, and am at the beginning level, so if you'd like to help me, you should message me! :-) I also would love to learn Spanish and Portugeuse.
I also think it would be neat to learn tae kwan do and capoeira. And yoga!

As for teaching...I play the piano a little, and I sing, and I could teach both. Also, how to write a kick-ass history or political theory paper!
