About Me

Originally from CA but I call CO home, though I've lived in China since 2009. I visit the US and head back to Denver regularly to see friends and family, but they're scattered all about, so I'm used to bouncing from couch to couch on my short trips home. When I'm back I spend my time getting all the comforts of home, which mostly means TexMex, peddling around LoDo, and just generally enjoying everything Denver.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Lot's of friends and family are married with kids now, and I feel bad imposing. Plus, I'm a nice guy that likes to meet nice people and share good conversation. I fall asleep like a rock on anything softer than a Chinese mattress, which, if you've ever been to China, is not a difficult feat. I like to sleep in, but have no problem getting up early with a fresh pot of coffee. Since my "vacations" are actually just time for me to work in less polluted, more scenic Denver vs time in Shanghai, I spend most of my time at the closest coffee shop or pub with wifi lesson planning and working on training material. I just need a place to lay my head and get cleaned up in the morning.

Interests

Good conversation is number one, and since it's been a while since I've had a chance to enjoy all that Colorado has to offer, I can't HONESTLY say that I still actively enjoy hiking, biking, rock climbing, and snow boarding. But I do like the downtown areas and people watching, good food, pub trivia, but really, I spend most of my time off working on my materials for the semester ahead.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really wish I had a better answer for this question but really I like just about everything for music except country and polka, movies that either make you think or are just stupid fun, and books that suck you in and don't let you go even after the last page. But if you sneak a peek over my shoulder, I'll probably be reading something by Ur, Thornberry, or Scrivner (Giants in the ELT world).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I did up an move to China and stay there for 6 years with nothing but a bag of clothes and a promise of a steady 20 classroom hours per week. I thought I'd be there for a year, but, it's been almost 6 and I'm still here.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love conversation; sharing and learning. I have an open mind and adore people that love mental exploration.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've always been a fan of making new friends, and making old friends friends with my new friends.
