To see the world, meet people and be cheap while doing it
I have traveled around the world and have done it through hostels, hotels and my apartment from when I lived in South Korea.
Since I have been back in NYC, I have been teaching college-aged students from around the world and the diversity I deal with day in and day out is really awesome to see. Because of that, each time I travel from now-on, I really want to stay with people and get immersed in the culture and travel that way.
I am extremely liberal politically but when it comes to living life, I believe in just being happy. I never have a problem doing this by myself if no one wants to join. If it means me missing out on something or going alone, then I'd go alone.
I believe that living in New York, if you aren't doing everything possible then you aren't taking full advantage of the city.
I also believe that traveling is the best way to fully learn about people and people who have said they either never traveled (or only been to the Caribbean), I just don't trust.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have spoken to my new roommate and he does not mind housing people occasionally but would prefer it to be more toward the weekends when the work week is winding down rather than the beginning or middle of the week. So if you are requesting a stay for the weekends that would be preferable.
On this site I have no experience but I have housed friends of friends whom I have never met which I believe is similar to a couchsurfer from this site.
It's New York City and there is always things to do. I am a season ticket holder to the Yankees so if its summer, there is a great chance I'll have tickets to offer. I check out all the big movie releases, go to concerts and just enjoy all there is to do in the city. The off-the-path things is what separates this city from all other cities.
Music, Movies, and Books
I watch ALL types of movies. Doesn't matter the genre, era or country.
I listen to all music except for country and death metal
I read non-fiction books because if the story is good, then not only is it just as surreal as a good fiction book, but it also actually happened
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Paris is the second best city behind New York (of course) that I have ever been to.
I have been caught in an earthquake during a baseball game in Tokyo, went to elephant camp in Thailand for a day, watched a homeless man slap a woman minding her own business in a train station in Vienna, had hail balls the size of grapefruits pelt me in St. Peter's Square in Rome and, my favorite, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger...in Jerusalem...on the Sabbath
