it's been a few years since I hosted down in San Diego but I'm happy to say I have a new place and I'm hosting again Central Coast California wine country! Incase you didn't know San Luis Obispo County is halfway between San Francisco and LA, so it is the perfect place to stop for a rest.
My place is on a 44 acre piece of land a bit outside of town near luxury houses and vineyards so there's plenty of room for your van, RV, tent, or whatever. Also although I don't currently have one I'm looking to get a couch in the very near future!
Once you are here you might just want to stay for a while. San Luis Obispo county is In my opinion one of the coolest small towns areas in California if not the whole United States. Oprah Winfrey once called The city of San Luis Obispo the happiest place in America! I'm not sure about that but I know everybody for a fact is always smiling. Not sure you will find a more smiley place.
====END OF UPDATE====
That's a tough one. 2012 changed my life. I had a good job, a nice place at the beach, so I started hosting. I was increasingly inspired by all the travelers and backpackers. I had to try it for myself. When I changed jobs I decided to look for remote only work. Not wanting to be tied to any one place. I traveled & had more great times. Now I am back looking for a another great spot at the beach. So for Current Mission, I will just default back to what I used to put here, "meet new people and have fun" and will add "surf the world."
Hello, I'm Rob, a quiet, hard working, responsible guy that likes to have fun and I would love to host you if I have room. Maybe even be your personal tour guide if I have the time during your stay.
If you are looking for someone that is verified, Paypal me $25 and I will do it right away. till then, I am spending my extra money on Taco Tuesdays. =P (update, one of my couch surfers left me $25 and a note to get verified, so after considering spending it on Taco's anyway...I decided to do the right thing and finally get verified.)
I try to invite people that look like they will be fun, and I even invite multiple people at the same time that look like they may get along well with each other. While I don't always have a full house, many people have become friends while staying at my place, so I hope you have a similar experience, but if you are the type that needs lots of space and is not willing to share or sleep on a futon mattress on the floor or an air mattress by the door, or the couch, maybe you can try another site called, www.airbnb.com, while it's not free, you will have nicer accommodations.
Pretty much we are the perfect fit if you are looking for a quiet humble place to crash for free during the day/night that is a steps from the beach, and also willing to hang out and chill exchanging life stories over a glass of wine or some vodka oj's. BTW, I don't like beer, thanks for the thought, but please don't bring me beer. ;)
Just to prove that you actually read this far, please include "No worries, I won't bring beer" in your couch request to me. =)
Enjoyment of life. Whatever I do, I like to do it in a way that is fun if I can surrounded by awesome people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting with dreams of one day traveling (did some). I love meeting new people. My life is pretty full with work and all, lately it has been hard to find time to have fun so I love to bring the fun to me. I would love to host super fun outgoing open-minded people. (Focus on open-minded as judgmental sucky people are not welcome and may become the blunt of jokes if you come anyway). That said, I am hoping by being a good host, I will make more new friends.
I met some great people at a Monthly Couch Surfing party up in LA my roommate was DJ'ing at, even though I was not participating at the time besides being at their party...I kept it in the back of my head until..
I moved to San Diego and I decided to give it a try and share my little apartment on the beach with ya'all...since I made that decision, my life has changed for the better and will never again be the same. ;)
If I am messaging you while on my travels, I can't host, but would love to help organize a local CS get together.
I'd love to be a personal tour guide when I have time.
I love to watch movies with Couch Surfers and listen to their travel stories.
When not hosting, I like to play basketball, ride my bike, hike, relax, lounge, etc...
- traveling around the world
- traveling the world
- traveling and meeting new people
Music, Movies, and Books
I like all good music, I don't have any one favorite type, if it is a good song, then cool. Live music is the best though!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent 4 hours with Micheal Jackson when I was a kid at his ranch in Santa Ynez, California. Just me, my best friend, his sister, and Micheal riding around his ranch in Micheal's golf carts. No one believes me unless they see the picture so I won't be offended if you don't. BUT IT DID HAPPEN!!!
Teach, Learn, Share
What I Can Share with Hosts
many many many examples of hosting, both great and good. I can share the things I learned hosting nearly a thousand people the last few years. Also, I make good burritos. :-)
