About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding somthing I'm good at that brings joy to others.

ABOUT ME

I'm a nineteen year old student of philosophy and politics in my second year at the University of Auckland. I'm from Wellington, New Zealand, and all in all I'm a pretty relaxed, easy-going sort of a guy. :)

I'm good at all the boring stuff; being neat and tidy, and paying my way. But I'm also good at the fun things; talking and laughing and smiling and dancing.

I'm going to be working as a theatre critic in Edinburgh for a month before I start my exchange at the University of Edinburgh for this coming semester. To be honest, I'm just tremendously excited about the whole thing, and I can't wait to meet you!

PHILOSOPHY

My favourite philosopher is Bertrand Russell. If you read enough Russell, you'll have my personal philosophy. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Nothing so far, but excited to begin!

Interests

I love the theatre. I love film (Fellini, Allen, Jeunet, Hitchcock) and comedy (Beyond the Fringe, Peep Show, Python, Arrested Development). Not to mention the rest of television: The Hour; Mad Men; Boss; Breaking Bad.

Other than watching things, I do love to write and read and act and sing. The only thing better than talking philosophy (Deleuze, Russell, Zizek) over a pint or two, as far as I'm concerned, is listening to interesting people share whatever it is they are passionate about. So, I suppose my ultimate interest is conversation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My life has just been enormously fortunate - from the opportunity to travel to London to perform on the Globe, to my recent trip around Paris, and Amsterdam, and Hong Kong with my beautiful girlfriend. The opportunity I have had to play in the Wellington Fringe Festival, to win physics competitions, to lead charitable organisations, to start a company sharing with pre-schoolers a love for science and art, not to mention the extraordinary people I have met along the way... It has been a cavalcade of fortune, but I'm sure the most amazing things are yet to come.
