travel the world, interview activists, write weird fiction, help other people
I'm a pretty out-going, passionate but gentle individual - often goofy but mostly considerate and honest. I'm an anthropology undergraduate student in my final year of formal studies genuinely interested in getting to know other human beings and in making human connections. I'm queer, a vegetarian, a leftist, a writer, a blogger and most notably a dreamer. I have a pretty jumpy imagination but stay pretty grounded by surrounding myself with good people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Traveling with a political project, developing an app and an interactive ebook, and doing other citizen-journalism/technology related stuff.
I am new to couchsurfing and am embarking on a 6month+ adventure that should transform me from a couchsurfing novice to an expert, I'd love it if you would be a part of that adventure with me. I'm traveling with a female companion who is working
I love exploring new environments and cultures. Part time activist&citizen journalist, I feel passionately about fighting oppression and institutionalized exploitation. When circumstances permit, I'm tweeting (@thepeoplesrec), blogging, working, organizing, and doing other menial tasks.
Music, Movies, and Books
Eclectic on all accounts but some general preferences:
Movies: Documentaries (particularly socially conscious, political, etc), sci-fi, dramas, period dramas, indie flicks, etc.
I also love HBO series (and to a lesser degree SHOtime, Starz and AMC).
Music: hip hop, R&B, soul/neosoul, the outskirts of pop, international sounds, riot grrrl, rap, Nina Simone, electro-acoustic, trip hop, jazz/neojazz, experimental/ambient music and other interesting stuff.
Books: Political non-fiction, creative non-fiction, science fiction & other speculative fiction (particularly weird, new weird, magic realism, etc)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm spending the next six months (at least) on the road, following political protests/movements with my blogging partner and blogging from thepeoplesrecord.com. You can follow us via RSS feed, tumblr, twitter, Instagram and Facebook. You can read more about the project @ thepeoplesrecord.com/theproject
I also have a blog about cheap/thrifty travel - I think I might do a series on advice I get from some of my couch surfing hosts (no pressure to offer sage wisdom though). Check it out @ travellikeavagabond.tumblr.com
I also have a blog about my other passion, speculative fiction (particularly tailored to my genre of choice - weird fiction): weirdwritingwarehouse.tumblr.com
Teach, Learn, Share
I feel like I have little-to-offer in terms of teaching. I'm medium-tech-savvy, only speak English (how embarrassing for me), and have no formal technical skills to think of.
I give good, elaborate advice to other aspiring writers looking for feedback on their work. If I think of anything else, I'll update this section!
