The past several years traveling have been an eye opening experience. It is partly due to tragedies that I have taken to a digital nomad lifestyle in search of new destinations, people and culture. I have taken to circumnavigating the 48 contiguous US states by AMTRAK, traveled to Colombia for 5 months backpacking the entire country, and spending 6 months in Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia.

The sad:
* Lost my wife to cancer after a yearlong battle with unexplained brain hemorrhages at the age of 33, leaving me as a single father of a 1 yr old.
* Lost my son (March 2021) to schizophrenia (suicide). He was a person of great strength and ability, graduating from Duke university and also trying out for the 2016 Olympics (1500 meter swimming)

Both tragedies have left me starting over in my personal life. Travel has been my salvation. It is through my travels that I have met so many amazing and inspirational people, seen such wonderful places in the world, but also so much struggle from those desperate to seek a better life. It amazes me that it is not the amount you have in life but the joys you can derive from the simple connections we make, the people we meet and the places we see as we pass on through our limited journey. Live life one day at a time and it will amaze you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new to Couchsurfing. I am seeking hosts that are willing to take me in and allow me to share my stories of my life and they share stories of theirs. I seek genuine connections with real people. My current goal is a deeper dive into the town and states in the continental US and Canada ( maybe even into Mexico). I will most likely be traveling by motorcycle as I visit small towns of North America starting from current home state of New Hampshire, USA.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an avid Homebrewer. Unfortunately I cannot travel with cases of beer on my motorcycle, but could teach you to brew your own.
I also enjoy cooking, can teach you some of my favorite dishes such as chicken piccata or chicken marsala.
Also enjoy making my own sausage and sauerkraut.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Besides my many stories of people and places in the world, I can also prepare a meal and share a wonderful dinner with my host.
