**I CANNOT CURRENTLY HOST DUE TO AN UPCOMING RELOCATION**

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from The State University of New York at Oneonta (https://www.suny.oneonta.edu). I have a year of graduate coursework in digital journalism and digital cinema, and a year of recent undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, coursework in computer science. My long-term goal is to earn my Master of Science degree in computer science. Additionally, I am currently working on my certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).

I have an autoimmune disease that caused me to develop arthritis, among other things, prematurely resulting in me being declared totally and permanently disabled when I was just 36 years old. However, because I had a great job, with great benefits like long-term disability, at the aerospace corporation I was working for when I became disabled, I didn't have to worry about how I was going to live when I got the news. Also, instead of feeling sad about being "out for the count" at 36 years old, I started referring to myself as being in early retirement, LOL. I couldn't change my circumstances, but I could change my mindset and how I reacted to them and let them shape me. So, technically, I am disabled. But, if you ask me I'll say I'm in early retirement. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :-)

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

I found out about Couchsurfing right after I found out about sites like Workaway, HelpX and the like. I joined Workaway and thought that I should check Couchsurfing out to see how similar or dissimilar it was to Workaway. I joined Couchsurfing because, unlike Workaway, one cannot even get past the homepage without being a member!

I'm not a "Verified" member because $60 is not a little bit of money, and I don't even know if Couchsurfing is going to be something that I'm going to be comfortable doing. Is it literally sleeping on people's couches or are other accommodations available; and, if so, what are the stipulations? I don't know, because I couldn't get past the homepage without joining and then coming straight to the profile section, LOL.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

I got to play a really meaningful, tangible role in the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA, USA when I was hired to work as part of the civilian security team for the Games. And because I am ex-military, have a spotless criminal record, and had no problem passing the pre-employment drug screening the staffing company was so happy that they let me pick where I wanted to work! I chose to work at the Athlete's Village aka the Olympic Village where all of the athletes from around the world lived while competing in the Games. It was one of the most AMAZING experiences I've ever had! If I were to make a Top Ten list of my best life experiences, this one would probably make the top three. And, for those folks who love to tell people to show pictures or it didn't happen, I took plenty of pictures and still have them! :-D
