About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Celebrating the absurdity of life

ABOUT ME

Yes, it's all about Me. No wait, that's not what you wanted to know.

I'm a liberal minded, feminist, secular Buddist, gourmande, introvert who really hates trying to describe herself.

PHILOSOPHY

If you've stopped learning, you've stopped living. Life is too short to be taken seriously. Now, where did I put my keys?

Interests

I have a very simple life, spent with my family and friends. Although I live in an large city, I spend much of my free time out of doors - camping, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and road biking.

The quiet pursuits of reading, cooking great meals for friends, and sharing fine wines and good conversation with loved ones are my day to day interests. Balance out all the intellectual activity with running, cyclotouring, canoeing, kayaking, motorcycling and skiing. I love my career as an architect. Been too busy to travel much lately, but planning to attend Homecoming in Scotland in 2009.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music? Yes...the more you love music, the more music you love. I listen to CKUA, a publically supported radio station...check it out on the web! Particularly love folk/ethnic/world. Just getting into portugese fado and pakistani qawwali lately.

Tom Waits, Ani diFranco, Martyn Joseph, Joel Harding, and even Marilyn Manson are on my iPod. Lots of classical too.

Books? Memoirs, history, fiction, non-fiction...anything that challenges me, makes me think or makes me laugh. Recently read authors include Dervla Murphy, Paul William Roberts, David Sedaris, Susan Gilman, Malcolm Gladwell and Alexandra David-Neel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One experience that's been on my mind recently is the 6 week tour of France I took my Dad on in 1994. France is a country I'd seen a few times before, solo, but seeing it through the eyes of another person added depth and clarity to my own travel experience.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada
