About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see and do interesting things with interesting people

ABOUT ME

We are in our 70's. We are Christians, active in our church and community. We have three grown children and two grandchildren. We often work at the local food bank, have managed a community garden and tend to volunteer wherever we see a need. Russ retired from Natural Resources Conservation Service after 38 years and for 10 years inspected organic crops. Until COVID Russ and Sue subbed in school system for special education classes. Russ was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Liberia 1975-1977.

PHILOSOPHY

We live to love, and love to live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are active hosts and travelers. We keep very busy, so prefer to have at least two days notice if you send us a request. We accept requests as our schedules allow.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We hosted our first surfer in March 2014 and until COVID had a steady string of requests. We have traveled as surfers and hope to do more in the future. We are also active in Servas as hosts and travelers.

Music, Movies, and Books

We are not much into movies or pop culture. Our music preferences tend toward "World". We love to read most anything that comes our way that is enriching, educational or travel related.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We lived in Neah Bay, WA on the Makah Indian Reservation. Neah Bay is the farthest NW corner of the continental US. We could watch whales from our living room.

Teach, Learn, Share

We have extensive knowledge of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest and love nothing more than helping people discover this amazing corner of the universe.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A bed and bathroom.
Extensive knowledge of the Pacific Northwest.
Stories of our adventures.
We are < 1 mile from the MAX light rail station. You can take MAX directly to downtown Portland or to the airport .
Our pizza oven. We love to cook.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Iceland, India, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Norway, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
