I love company but I equally love my own space. I like the simple things in life.. good food, wine, company, nature, books, cinema, music, people..... & always dogs! ;-)
Live in the moment as much as possible!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've just signed up. going to my first event tonight.. then let's see how it unfolds from there.....
I am new to this so no CSing experiences yet! Inspired to get into this by wonderful memories of inter-railing and the many great experiences I have had & people I have met over the years. The people I met (some fleetingly, some became friends for life!) in trains, boats, planes & piazzas over the years who have changed & enriched my life. I am looking forward to dipping my toes into this CSing world & seeing where it takes me.......
reading, writing, cinema, music, dance, hiking, cooking, good food wine & chocolate, chatting, yoga & mindfulness, people!
Music, Movies, and Books
Way too many to list! I have quite an eclectic taste in music liking anything from Jazz to punk as long as it's good! David Byrne, Thelonious Monk, Cat Power, Elvis Costello, PJ Harvey, Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a few that spring immediately to mind. But ask me tomorrow & the list will probably be completely different! To mention a few writers that I've been reading, thinking or talking about lately: Lorrie Moore, Paul Auster, Lydia Davis, J.L.Borges, Noam Chomsky. Cinema: Art house independent movies: basically anything non-Hollywood considered! Xavier Dolan, Tarantino, Truffaut, Almodavar to name a few. Il Divo & In the Mood for Love are the first two movies that spring to mind as great. Again ask me again in half an hour & I'll think of another two! I always love meeting people and hearing about new movies, books, music to check out! ;-)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Too many to choose one, but first that springs to mind is travelling around Sicily by motorbike (I was travelling around Europe inter-railing, supposedly going to Budapest straight from Barcelona to meet a friend, but after an unexpected stop-off in northern Spain, a chance encounter in Dali's museum, I ended up in Sicily via Florence!). Particular memories of that trip include eating coffee granita near the top of Mount Etna, sitting on the rooftop of the family house on the side of Mount Etna that I stayed in (my first CS experience, I guess!)watching the volcanic eruption like my own personal firework display, comin gface to face with the local mafia (yes really!!!), being pillion passanger on a motor-bike going down a steep set of steps in a charming old village,(scary & unexpected!) sitting on the pier in Cefalu where Cinema Paradiso was filmed, sitting in a wonderful rose-filled cloister in the heart of seedy Palermo, getting lost in the country & hitch-hiking back w a local in his Ape (vespa van!)....& the list could continue.... I never felt as alive as I did on that trip.... pure magic!
