ABOUT ME

Alright guys, I just found out about this site and am super stoked to start using it. So a little about me, I did a few years in the military and was able to travel and visit many countries with that. After the military I opened a crossfit gym in Virginia, ran that for about 7 years and then sold it along with everything I owned to move to Canada in order to go to Adventure Guide School. And wow what an experience!!! With the money from selling everything I bought a van and built the inside so I could use it as a camper. I have been traveling around in it for the past two years......spending a summer in it with my daughter and our dog all through the Shenandoah Mountains. I drove it to Canada and lived in it until the temps got in the negative teens....brrrr!! haha. I will be finishing up school here in April, and then doing an expedition to Yosemite in May, then back to West Va to hopefully get a job as a whitewater raft guide at Ace Resort.
I absolutely love to travel and meet and learn from new people. I truly believe that experience is the fruit of life and I plan to build as many memories as I can. I hope to meet all you cool cats out there and share in some great stories!!

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is an ever burning desire to grow and evolve, learning what I can from who I can. Enjoying the ups and downs of life.....cause without the sour you can never have the sweet!
I believe travel and experience are things most people don't do enough. I believe that true happiness in not found until it is shared with someone. I don't want life to be easy....I just want it to be worth it!! Nothing worth having comes easy.
Sooo..... I am on a quest to strip away the unnecessary! To find what truly makes you happy you have to get rid of all the bs that clouds your vision, all the things that society says you must have or must be. If it does not contribute to your happiness.....get rid of it!! Easy right? Life is too short to live day to day unhappy! Find the people and the things that make you happy and surround yourself with them! Material things will never be remembered....but experiences and the people you meet on this journey of life will!! So... the past year I have cleaned house and gotten rid of everything that is not truly essential to my day to day happiness. I love outdoors...camping, hiking, climbing, swimming, mountain bikes, CAMP FIRES!!!, etc. These things make me happy.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I just discovered this site so I'm pretty stoked to try it out!! I travel lots, but typically stay in a tent in the woods somewhere or in the Wal mart parking lot in the van!! lol
I'm planning to build a camp on the river back in West Virginia this summer where I can host tons of people in a sweet area by the river so we can have bon fires and float trips!!! yaaay!!

Interesses

I'm interested in travel and gaining new experiences, meeting new people and learning as much about different cultures as I can.
I am very involved in the crossfit community. I enjoy yoga and climbing a few times a week. I eat mostly paleo with the occasional sloppy cheeseburger in there! I'm currently learning the classical guitar and love it! And the biggest thing I am working on is creating a homestead on the river. I want to grow food and have animals and pursue self sustainable practices on the property. You all are invited to stay and teach, learn, contribute to this project. I want it to be a community learning environment where like minded people can come together and help make a beautiful place for us all to share. Soooo excited to finish school here and get that project started this summer. Anyone have ideas or suggestions feel free to share, I welcome input!!

180 degrees south is probably my favorite and was a major turning point in my life when I saw it.
I'm not a super weirdo but I really find the Zeitgeist documentaries very interesting. I got rid of my television like 6 years ago so I'm totally not current on that stuff.
