About Me

My name is Sina Johnsen, but you can call me Sai (S-i). I'm adopted from South Korea, but have lived in Norway, with my Norwegian family my entire life.

Traveling is a big passion of mine, although I'm not able to travel that much at the moment. I'm still a student and plan to study for more years to come. Currently, I'm studying dance, and am considering whether or not to pursue a career on the subject. So, I guess it's not a secret that I love dancing.

I have many funny quirks, if I may say so myself. I'm the kind of person who crashes into mirrors and gets my bag stuck on the bus and trips over flat surfaces. (How in the world am I able to dance?) You can say I'm a little rough around the edges, and I appear a little socially awkward at times. However, once you get to know me, I'm an outgoing person who gets great pleasure from making other people happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I first heard of Couchsurfing, I could barely believe it existed. I've been searching for economic ways to travel, considering I'm a student and money doesn't exactly grow on trees.

In addition, with this arrangement, I can also get to know new people and experience new cultures in a completely different way, than a normal tourist.

The mere idea is simply enchanting. That's the kind of traveling in love.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy most genres of music, however hiphop and RnB are my favorite. They're quite wide genres though, and my taste is specifically pointed at artists such as BTS and Dean. I'm not too into all the swearing and talk about sex etc in the mainstream hiphop. Because of this, I'm also leaning towards the Korean music specter in the genre.
Overall, I also do love kpop and all the work and effort that goes into producing the music.

I don't think I have a favorite movie at the moment. I'm weak for Jackie Chan movies though, so perhaps it's one of his films. However, give me any action comedy or historical thriller/based-on-a-true-story and I'm good to go. Movies like The Imitation Game, Changeling and The Theory of Everything are wonderfully magnificent.

Considering I'm a Christian, the Bible is my answer. However, that's probably not what you're looking for, so my favorite books must be The Hunger Games trilogy. I do enjoy some good YA fiction. Especially when romance is only a sub theme and not the main focus. Other than that, Heaven Is For Real was a really nice read for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English and Norwegian, and also Spanish to my best ability.

Dancing is also something I can share, for the learning, or just the fun of it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

If I'm staying with a host, I would love to share some gems from Norway. If you have any questions, want to taste some classic, Norwegian food (perhaps our famous chocolate) or some good old language exchange.

Of course, I'd be sharing smiles and laughter, maybe some help around the place and a new friendship.

Additionally, if you're interested in dancing, or learning a little, I would love to share it with you. Dance is a great way to get to know new people and become comfortable in their presence.

Last but not least, I hope you show me your favorite restaurant, a tourist attraction or something like that, so we can share those experiences.
