I have recently received my 2nd negative review. After reading the comments the couch surfer left me, I am pretty sure there was a major English Language miscommunication. However, even allowing for what was misunderstood, this person's reaction was extremely volatile and homophobic. The 2nd and older negative review was because of the presence of cocaine at an after-party we were at.
I copied a few of the almost 150 positive reviews Couch Surfers have written for me;
"David is amazing!!! It takes about 1 minute and 34 seconds to feel completely at ease in his company, and maybe another 47 seconds to figure out what a treasure he is. We had a great night out, complete with an after party and he let me crash at his lovely place. Will be more than happy to host him if the road ever takes him to Oxford!” - Vid Simoniti, England
"David was an awesome host and I stayed way longer than expected. He was very accommodating and always made sure I was comfortable. Also another huge plus (theres many) is that he is the god-damn doorman at an awesome club and knows everyone! My nights out were like nothing Ive ever experienced before (in a very good way). But he was just an awesome human being who was funny, friendly and just a stand up dude. Thanks a bunch man!” - Darcy Stockwell, Australia
"David is such an awesome host.
A very gentle, responsible and social dude, with a lot of knowledge about the city, inteligent and, most important, Fun!
We had a great time and he showed me the San Francisco beyond sightseeing as I wanted.... An amazing weekend, for sure. I would do it again, for sure! Highly recommended.” - Leonardo Moore, Brazil
"David is an amazing host, very talkative and kind, and always worried about you feeling comfortable in his place.
He´s the kind of guy who will stay awake with you having a drink and talking about any topic you put on the table.
I totally recommend staying with him!” - Yael Mercado, Mexico
"David is VERY VERY KIND PERSON!!
This is my first CouchSurfing experience as a surf. and I am so happy that he is a nice guy.
you can have a good time with him and his neighborhood and at Good Beer City!!”
- Shunsuke Yamada, Japan
"David is a exceptional guy and I am afraid that no amount of eloquence on my part can show just how much I loved his company. I mean, this was my first lengthy experience traveling, and around David I felt even more comfortable and welcome than I do at home! On top of making me feel welcome, he was also helpful and entertaining. He invited me to the club he works at, he took me out drinking on his night off, he showed me around his neighborhood, brought me to a farmers’ market and cooked us fresh meals from scratch. I look up to him and hope I will be as full of energy, life and knowledge when I am older. I am so glad he was willing to share his time with a stranger like me. You are a very lucky soul if you ever get to spend time with David. Just be sure to look him in the eye when you toast him; his smile will warm your heart."
