My name is Sam, I am a 3rd year university student from the United States, and I am currently studying as an exchange student for six months at Lund University in Sweden.

I am very excited to take advantage of Europe's countless travel opportunities while I am here, and I am hoping couch surf will enable me to explore amazing new places and meet great people along the way.

As an unemployed university student, the biggest constraint on my ambitious travel plans is the cost, and accommodation costs can be some of the biggest expenses on any trip! Furthermore, I've always found that the people are what really define the culture of any place you go, so Couchsurfing seems like the perfect way to keep travel costs low, while also being able to meet local people and get an authentic experience with the local culture.

My favorite travel experience was this past summer, when I lived out of van for two weeks and roadtripped from Seattle, Washington to San Francisco, California with a friend of mine -- stopping at 4 beautiful National Parks on the way down; it was a great way to experience the beauty and diversity of America's wilderness.
