I'm trying to find myself, ha ha whatever that means.
Mostly I'm just focusing on living in one place for an extended period of time, since I've moved about 12 times in the past 2.5 years. I'm digging into the local culture here and really enjoying it. Traveling is more of a temporary excursion now, or of the armchair variety, instead of a life-style upheaval.
I've worked as a chef/cook for about 10 years now, and really enjoy cooking, eating and talking about food.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To share and receive welcoming housing with a warm bed and kind interesting people to meet. I am willing to host sometimes here in Oakland, mostly due to busy schedule of me and my roommates. I am looking to surf in NY in January and who knows where else beyond then.
I absolutely love talking about interesting things with interesting people, which can be anyone! Other things I like; Music and dancing, cycling in and out of the city, sailing, kayaking, beach-combing, tide pool exploring, biology especially evolutionary and marine, hiking, art making and looking at esp. ceramics, painting, textiles, woodwork, cooking and eating new and delicious foods, live comedy, radical politics, feminism, history, really into poetry right now and graphic novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Moved to rural France at 19 by myself with very little money and even less language skills.
Road tripped from SF to BC last year with one of my best friends. The Pacific Northwest's beauty is epic!
Cooked one of the most delicious meals of my life with 6 different types of traditional Mexican open-fire cooking methods for the 60th anniversary of the Museo Experimental EL Eco in Mexico City with some of the best chefs I know.
Sky dived in my hometown, it was quite surreal to see all of the islands and landmarks of my youth from 10,000 ft.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can cook most things.
Tell me something I don't know please! :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
A comfortable futon, well two, plus a round bed in a turret in a quiet but shared living room space. Guidance about what to do in the Bay Area and how to get around. Plus the occasional delicious meal. There are a few cats and one sweet dog to snuggle.
