ABOUT ME

Mostly, I'm just a person who wants to know as much as possible about everything. My goal in life is to live by my writing, in the meantime I go to school. Daniel is the most well intentioned person I know. We're both bohemian bums at heart even though the world has forced us to be realistic, but only so much that we have jobs, not so much that we don't live.

PHILOSOPHY

I truly believe that if we are lucky, we have about a good useful (hopeful) eighty years of life on this earth, and we really need to make the best of it. . I believe that everyone wants, and deserves to be heard. That everyone has a story, so no one has the right to judge. We are people created by experience. I believe in forgiveness and openness. I'm a bit, okay a lot, of an existentialist, and think people are defined by their actions, and how they treat other people, and this governs how I treat others. This sounds stiff, and I don't mean for it to be. I just have a lot of solid beliefs, but am always open to grow them. I just think everyone deserves to be happy, and should do whatever it takes to be that way.

Although we differ aplenty, Dan and I share enough of these ideals to be together.

I can't really answer how I participate, but I plan to participate by bringing an open mind, and sharing my thoughts and perspective on the world, which is unique and hopefully inspiring.

Interests

This question would be easier if it asked what isn't an interest.

I'm not the most adventurous person, but I would like to be. Most of my interests are quiet ones, but I think that comes with being an "artist". Most of the excitement in my life happens internally or on the page.

I'm really pretty fascinated by everything, and love approaching the world with raw eyes and a passion for life.

Daniel loves music more than anyone I know. He always has a guitar in hand, either rocking out or writing a song. A true Canadian he's played hockey since he was five, and would happily answer any questions.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a little obsessed with film, Pierrot le Fou and 8 1/2 fight for a place on top of my list. Wong Kar Wai makes some of the most beautiful films I've seen. Almodovar is thrilling. Unfortunately I'm most like Woody Allen, but I wear it well.

What can I say about music? It basically rules both Dan and my lives. We're extreme, and pretty much always listening, or playing, (me less on the playing). The Black Keys are my oxygen right now, but not exclusively. Recently we've seen them, Florence and the Machine, Arctic Monkeys and Robert Plant in concert. Bob Dylan has transformed both our lives, and the way Jack White plays guitar is an obsession. He gave me Bob, and I gave him Ray Charles, we found Led Zeppelin together. We'll probably try our best to introduce anyone interested to our favourite Canadian bands as well.

There is no way for me to summarize books. They have been my teacher, parent, best friend, brother, sister, for my entire life. Literature has made me who I am. Every book I've ever read has been like an experience lived. Lately I've bee reading a lot of Jean Paul Sartre, but am also reading Catcher in the Rye (for the first time I'm afraid). Right now Dan is reading Bob Dylan Chronicles.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel like I should have an answer for this, but put on the spot I can't think of a thing. I have a feeling this trip around the world is going to top anything anyway.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm someone people like to talk to. Probably because they sense my lack of judgement. I'm an open book, so trust comes naturally. I'm not sure if it's something I can teach, but it's definitely something I can share.

Dan has a kindness that's unrivalled. I'm better every day because of it. His faith in people is inspiring and his loyalty unmatched.
