Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing to meet new people as I travel to New Zealand and experience a new way of life for the next year or longer. I love the mountains and I am hoping to find a place to work and live where I can be close to the mountains to go climbing, hiking, and mountaineering.

Intereses

My interests are in the outdoors. I would rather spend a day exploring new hiking trails than seeing the sights in a city. My big passions are rock climbing and ice climbing.

Música, películas y libros

I like many different genres of music, but my favourites are folk, acoustic indie, and alt rock.
I really enjoy watching movies. If I have the choice I prefer to go to the movie theatre rather than watching at home. I also really like going to live theatre when I have the chance.
My favourite kinds of books are survival stories, thrillers, historical fiction, and some sci-if & fantasy.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Something amazing I’ve done has been working as a wildland firefighter in Canada. I’ve done it for 7 years and love it. I regularly fly in helicopters, hike through remote areas, witness close at hand the devastation of a forest fire, and meet some of the most badass people ever. I have dozens and dozens of amazing stories on the fireline, they are better told in person!

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I grew up on a farm in central Alberta, Canada where we raised lots of animals. I also have a strong background in forestry through schooling and work. I am very proficient with a chainsaw.
I enjoy helping in the kitchen, I worked as a cook for two years when I was younger and I like making bread/buns by hand.
