About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To go forward as brightness into brightness
ABOUT ME
I am a Peace Corps Volunteer teaching Gender Equality in Burkina Faso. I believe in equality, social justice, and unconditional love. I am a bilingual singer who has a penchant for cooking delicious meals and hosting others. Lady Gaga is a goddess and I love everything about Burkina Faso.
PHILOSOPHY
Take the story of the baobab seed. It takes at least 5 years to grow as a tree, and an additional 35 years to bear fruit. This story bolsters my optimism. I may not have a huge impact on the present, but I know the future depends on me, and I am glad to oblige.
The world needs people who have come alive, and I strive everyday for that wonderful feeling that I am breathing, feeling, doing. Just coming alive.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Interests
Debating white and/or heterosexual privilege with a willing listener. Singing Christmas songs. Talking about all things queer. Empowering girls. Teaching. Being enthusiastic about everything and anything under the sun. Harmonizing. Just the usual stuff...?

Music, Movies, and Books
I love spy literature, namely the Bourne series. I love non-fiction of any kind. Soulful musicians (Amy Winehouse, Adele, India Arie, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Alicia Keys). Empowering women (Katy Perry, Lady GaGa). I have pretty much appreciated every film I have ever seen, but above all, I hold a special place in my heart for Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I taught 120 kids that wearing a mini skirt is NOT an invitation to anything on the spectrum of sexual violence, be it harassment or rape. They learned.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach French, all things Peace Corps, understanding privilege and equality, singing, active listening, how to support others, and so much more. I love learning languages-no matter how obscure. I love learning customs, and cultural differences that determine human development. I like to think of myself as a lifelong learner, and want to learn what you are willing to teach.
