About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To spend as much time as humanly possible sitting in a departure lounge...
ABOUT ME
I write about art and culture and travel for a Californian newspaper. I also write about music for an Australian music magazine. I used to be Australian, but am now American. I live in California with my wife and son. She is a musician. He drools a lot. We spend our weekends hanging out together. That's when I am not away writing about some really cool places or adventure or she is not away performing. I started out life as a photographer in the Australian music scene. Now my photography is more about personal reflections on life and my writing documents the broader spectrum of social discourse. And I love to cook.
PHILOSOPHY
Always use spellcheck. Never copy and paste when in a rush.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By spreading the word. I like being a travel writer because I have the opportunity to delve into places and experiences and share them with others. Couch surfing is a little like that I guess. I also travel a lot and stay in a lot of hotels. That gets boring. I love meeting real people in real places.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
To be determined
Interests
Writing and photography and travel and music and books and gadgets and people and my family and broken mechanical apparatus.

Music, Movies, and Books
I just read "The Road" and am really enjoying the Cowboy Junkies's new album which is all Vic Chesnutt songs. A film? I really enjoyed "The Lives of Others." Music is a real passion though. Some of my favorite artists include Victoria Williams, Devon Sproule, Calexico, The Church, The Triffids, Damien Rice, Townes Van Zandt, Glen Phillips, Angus and Julia Stone, Buddy and Julie Miller, Cowboy Junkies, Damien Jurado, Lucinda Williams, Leonard Cohen, Katherine Edwards, Nick Cave, Blue Rodeo, The Jayhawks ...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Playing poker with Townes Van Zandt.
