See the World
Sara and her husband were recently married in Cancun, Mexico. They had a great time and love to travel, camp, hike, and sight see. She is a naturalist (knows a lot about nature - does not run around naked) and works as a Park Ranger at Seney National Wildlife Refuge. She likes to have fun and explore the world around her. She has a big smile and hopefully a good sense of humor but she will let you be the judge of that. Sara's husband Rob is also a very nice guy. He has a small start up company that does engineering work, it is just starting to take off. Although he like to work on his computer and play old computer games from the 90's he also likes to cut loose and have a good time.
I always liked Gandhi's quote, "Be the change that you wish to see in the world."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We may be interested in hosting.
None so far, but a friend of mine used to have couch surfers when we were Peace Corps Volunteers in Africa. We met some nice people that way.
Sara loves to watch movies, listen to books on tape during her commute, loves 80's music, likes to cook, drink wine, likes to do just about anything outdoors. Hike, bike, camp, snorkel, SCUBA dive, kayak, canoe, take pictures, and just explore. She also likes to take her two dogs for walks.
Rob likes to play old computer games, program computers, play hockey, travel, and taking pictures of funny signs.
- outdoor activities
- scuba diving
Music, Movies, and Books
I like a good mixture. I listen to a lot of audiobooks as I commute to and from work. My favorites include science books, some philosophy, fiction - fantasy and romance.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1. Sara was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal, West Africa.
2. Sara has moved to eight states and one country without knowing anyone in those places and has made them home.
3. Sara and a couple of friends started Iowa Outdoor Unlimited an outdoors club in Des Moines that focuses on getting people together to share their experiences outdoors.
1. Rob and his brother built their house and started their own business.
2. Rob has been on every continent except Antarctica.
Teach, Learn, Share
Rob and I could share some of the fun activities that go on in the Upper Peninsula.
I love to take people out to the local parks and to the Refuge where I work and show them around. As a naturalist I can share quite a bit about the natural history of the area.
I love to learn about new places - culture, natural history, food, how to cook local dishes.
