我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I am arriving in Basel on the night of the 16th, attending a spiritual workshop the next day and staying in the city until the 20th. If you feel inclined or inspired to host me, it would be great to get to know each other first via Skype/Facetime. This will be my first experience with couchsurfing so let me know if you have any rules/special guide lines in your home.
I have not chosen couchsurfing just because it's 'free'. I actually could afford a hotel room or hostel but as I'm travelling alone in a place I don't know, I would feel safer knowing I'm with someone who does. Plus, I would love for you to show me around the city if you can. It would be a great opportunity to learn and discover and also exchange ideas and just talk about anything and everything. I love cooking (even though I'm a shit chef), animals/pets, red wine, avocados, laughing, listening..
