Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to couchsurfing, but I've been interested for a long time now! I would like to join a network of peers who are willing to host, and be hosted by, others who share an appreciation for life experiences over profit.

Interests

Traveling, meeting new people, making connections.. reading, writing, hiking, kayaking, going to live music events, goofing around with my friends and family.

Music, Movies, and Books

Someone once told me that music, and art in general, is most profoundly experienced as a magnification of how you are feeling in a given moment. So, obviously, that's subject to change. It would be impossible to list all my favorites!

But, as a sample:

Music- I tend to enjoy inventive, lyrical singer/songwriters, classic rock & soul, bossa nova, assorted indie/folk, and jazz.

Movies- I'm going through sort of a 70's film phase lately (Jaws, The Godfather I & II) but longtime favorites for me also include Lost in Translation, The Royal Tenenbaums, and La Dolce Vita.

Books- I just recently finished The Unbearable Lightness of Human Being, and it was wonderful. Some others I've loved are Still Life with Woodpecker, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Infinite Jest.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm friendly, courteous, and respectful as a guest. I clean up after myself and try to be as considerate as possible. I'm happy to spend time getting to know my hosts and exchanging stories, or to keep to myself depending on your preference!
