Enjoy the present and lessons from raising a child.
Made huge life choices, so that I can spend as much time as possible with my 13 year old son, Sheylen. Favourite past times include sailing, cycling, walking, reading, cooking and sharing wine & food. I serve as a volunteer to a couple of NGOs and my favourite one works with slum dwellers in 33 countries around the world.
"Listen with your eyes, heart and ears" - Sheylen, when he was 7 years old.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined in July 2011 to learn Spanish in Argentina. I still can not speak any Spanish, but I got to love Argentinian wine and its friendly people :-).
Interacting with people we do not know is a beautiful experience and and pushes our comfort zone. It is always fun meeting strangers.
For now, we meet or host CSers who are open to sharing and if possible play some piano or sport with my son. I also love to learn new ways of cooking tasty food.
We host because, we want to learn about cultures and share life experiences. We do not run a hotel, hostel or a personal tourist guiding company :-). However, I am very happy to advise and assist with travel suggestions.
CSers who stay with us, are requested to spend a little time with my son, Sheylen, chatting about their country, engaging him or teaching a new tune on the piano or saxophone. His interests include reading (lots), soccer/cricket, piano/saxophone, movies (lots of movies). Ah, if you are into Greek mythology, then you and Sheylen can spend hours chatting.
Sheylen also loves to practice his Finnish language (his mother is from Finland) and learning new tunes on the piano. If you know something about 'Pokemon' or robotics or spend some time on the sports field, you will be an instant hit.
Watching my son grow into a teenager and learning parenting skills. Ah, yes ..I do have other interests and they include sailing, cycling, walking, reading, cooking and ...............sharing wine & food.
